Canadian Tire Store Development Planner in Toronto, Ontario

What you’ll do

The Store Development Planner plays a key role in evolving the Canadian Tire Retail Store Network. The Development Planner works with partners in Real Estate and Construction to influence the physical nature of Canadian Tire Retail’s capital build projects, to ensure it enables key operational and strategic initiatives, as well as a world class shopping experience.

  • Using AutoCAD to design the initial retail and warehouse floor plans to suit prototypical designed buildings, non-prototypical designed buildings and potential opportunities for space.

  • Designing the initial Auto Service physical space using market analysis, liaising with Operations and analyzing current and future performance metrics of the store

  • Providing architectural recommendations to Real Estate & Construction and architects on building decisions for any element that does not fit current retail strategy

  • Communicating and handoff to the cross functional teams in the form of first draft plans with initial Warehouse drawings, Retail drawings, Service Centre design, Garden Centre design, and information package of decisions made on the project to that point in time

  • Hand-off of complete drawings with input from Cross Function Teams to Architect and Construction for the purpose of the creation of the Tender Set Drawings

  • Complete full review of Tender and Construction Drawings to ensure all physical aspects of the store have been incorporated into the drawings.

  • Investigating process analysis & improvement

What you bring

To be successful in this role, you will have progressive retail and/or architectural experience and demonstrated professionalism and leadership. You are highly motivated with commitment and passion to achieve results. Our best Store Development Planners have the ability to adapt to changing work situations and demonstrate proven project management capability. The business is looking for someone who has:

  • Exceptionally strong AutoCAD skills

  • 5 years experience in the store planning field

  • Strong working knowledge of architectural drawings and the ability to interpret and make recommendations

  • Strong analytical ability and negotiation skills

  • Exceptionally strong priority setting and time management skills

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity

  • Knowledge of Canadian Tire Retail is an asset.
