What you'll be doing

As a member of the Cyber Delivery and Operations organization, you’ll work in a fast-paced environment focused on introducing new security services to the bank and maintaining controls to protect the bank against cyber threats.

As the Sr. Director of Workforce Identity and Access Management (IAM), you’ll maintain an enterprise-wide program to develop and deliver modern authentication and user access lifecycle management for CIBC applications, tools and systems.

In this role, you will manage teams that set strategy and direction, provide oversight, operate controls and lead projects and initiatives that enhance and deliver workforce IAM services. This includes business application and non-privileged system user access scope across all technology environments, including in data centres, cloud and use by third parties. You will continuously drive improvements to strengthen the effectiveness and efficiency of workforce IAM practices and increasingly focus on building and operating automated solutions and processes to support continued growth at scale given the accelerating pace of the cyber, technology and regulatory landscape.

You’ll provide leadership to a large team and direct, coach and develop team members to set strategic team goals and inspire successful team performance. You will be a role model and support a positive work environment by championing CIBC’s vision and values of trust, teamwork and accountability.

You’ll work with major bank stakeholders and programs to ensure the direction for workforce IAM is adhered to. You’ll foster key relationships with internal partners to guide services development and adoption, maintain controls compliance and operational excellence, drive remediation of risks and issues, and deliver dashboards and executive reporting to govern and manage workforce IAM. This includes strong engagement, oversight and coordination with regions and CIBC subsidiaries. You’ll also monitor and assess external trends and maintain a strong network of industry relationships in support of the workforce IAM strategy.

How you'll succeed

  • Workforce IAM strategy – Provide thought leadership for workforce IAM. Analyze CIBC business strategy, changes in the cyber threat landscape, security risk assessments, IAM issues and incidents, current and target state workforce IAM security posture and maturity for inclusion into the workforce IAM strategy and roadmaps.

  • Workforce IAM service management – As the business owner for relevant workforce IAM technology systems and processes, define enterprise plans and develop business cases for workforce authentication (including multi-factor authentication, passwordless technologies, modern application authentication) and user access lifecycle management services (including user provisioning, attestations, deprovisioning). Lead and oversee related projects and initiatives, drive continued adoption of centralized workforce IAM services, oversee workforce IAM services lifecycle management, develop service KPIs and KRIs and monitor and report on service health.

  • Identity and Access Lifecycle Operations – Operate IAM technologies to automate user provisioning, recurring access review campaigns and deprovisioning for CIBC applications, tools and systems. Perform governance and oversight across the enterprise to maintain strong compliance to standards. Maintain formal IAM controls and documentation and ensure workforce IAM controls comply with controls testing by the internal Lines of Defense and external parties such as auditors and regulators.

  • Process optimization and change adoption – Develop and continuously improve workforce IAM practices, with a focus on streamlining and automating output and activities across different teams.

  • Relationship building - Grow your network, deepen relationships, and guide and collaborate with technology, risk, and business stakeholder teams across the organization to reduce risk by ensuring that IAM services are adopted and effectively and efficiency leveraged.

  • Enhanced reporting and governance – Enhance metrics and reporting to measure, track, and report on workforce IAM. This will provide various key stakeholders (e.g., Information Security management, Technology teams, Business Partners, Executives) with an ongoing understanding of risk and compliance status and enable prompt escalation and action.
