CIBC Sr. Consultant, Information & Cyber Security Governance (12-month secondment) in Toronto, Ontario

This position can be primarily located in either Toronto (hybrid) or Ottawa (remote), depending on the successful candidate

What you’ll be doing

CIBC maintains a comprehensive and robust information & cyber security program to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of its information and systems. As a member of Information Security Strategy, Governance and Partnerships, you’ll work as a team to protect Our Bank, Our Clients, and Our Employees. As a Sr. Consultant, Information & Cyber Security Governance , you’ll ensure that Management is continually informed and engaged in the Information Security Program through governance activities, including cyber reporting to executives, regulatory bodies and the Board of Directors. You are passionate about all things cyber security, and enjoy translating technical issues and challenges into business language and context. In addition, you may be called upon to assist with strategy development and external security partnerships.

How you’ll succeed

  • Information & Cyber Security Governance – Manage and/or contribute to a number of executive-level forums and committees, including creating agendas, maintaining a pipeline of content, building presentation decks, taking minutes, etc. Stay informed on current Information Security project deliverables and team accomplishments.

  • Communication & Process Improvement – Stay abreast of both internal and external information security trends, in order to contribute and provide recommendations to improve our information security governance forums. Develop and maintain internal procedures and support various requests for information from internal audit and external regulators.

  • Relationship building - Build and maintain relationships with subject matter experts as well as external experts to stay updated of notable developments and trends across the information security domain. Attend and present at various management meetings related to governance and strategy.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience/knowledge in threats and countermeasures: Knowledge of common security threats, industry best practices, security technologies and how they relate to organizational security posture. ​ It’s an asset if you have an information security certification like CISSP, CISM, or equivalent work experience.

  • You are a bold and accountable performer. You have experience developing and implementing strategic and tactical goals. You have experience influencing stakeholders to achieve better cyber security outcomes and managing competing priorities.

Prior to starting in this role, security checks, including a criminal record check must be successfully completed to the satisfaction of CIBC. An annual criminal record check may also be required.**
