As the Solutions Architect of Reliability Engineering, you will play an important role in designing, shaping and executing our visions on site availability for the CBC Digital Strategy & Products department. Time to market, reliable, performant and resilient products are some of the reasons why we are looking for your help in building our reliability engineering practice. We will bring out the explorer, challenger and trail blazer in you, but we are also grounded in sustainable, extensible and holistic approaches.

Architects are accountable for technical decisions and visions for technology, platforms and services. You will be asked to speak for the platform, system or technical components. You are expected to be the subject matter expert and will be consulted for your deep knowledge and expertise for your respective domain. You will also be advising on complex technical and architectural issues that require detailed analysis and thoughtful considerations on both functional and non-functional requirements.

How you will make an impact :

You are an experienced technical leader looking to apply and build upon your skills in:

  • Provides solution and deliver in the following areas:

  • System availability improvements

  • System performance and latency study and diagnosis

  • Incident management process and emergency response planning

  • Observability strategy and platforms

  • Telemetry demonstrating system availability and effectiveness in incident management.

  • Programs on security and compliance

  • Bring to light architectural issues that require broader consultation and review. Work with product teams to integrate reliability best practices into the software development lifecycle. Bring better understanding and drive collaboration with teams outside of the department, e.g. devOps, InfoSec.

  • Deliver and drive continuous evolution of the department’s use of observability products and platforms. Help monitor standards by designing and implementing corresponding metrics / measurements. Ensure features adhere to regulatory, governance and certification requirements defined by the industry and governing bodies.

  • Drive the automation of reliability and operational tasks to reduce manual intervention. Continuously assess and optimize system performance, capacity, and resource utilization.

  • Collaborate with quality engineering technical leaders in aligning quality objectives and reliability targets, identifying areas for improvement in quality engineering that will contribute to better system performance.

  • Lead or participate in initiatives that involves:

  • Capacity planning

  • Security practice including secret management

  • Infrastructure planning and cloud migration

  • Change management

  • Review systems design and architecture

What you bring to our team:

  • Three or more years of experience in a senior development role. Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership for medium to large scale systems or implementations.

  • In depth knowledge in the domain of reliability engineering for applications / platforms / services, including principles and key concepts.

  • Demonstrated experience in management and prevention of software outages. Solid understanding of incident management, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning. Experience in handling high load events like Black Friday / Cyber Monday.

  • Strong background in system architecture and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), and infrastructure management.

  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java).

  • Experience with application monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Sentry, Dynatrace, New Relic).

  • Possess a degree (BA, BSc) or diploma in a Software Development, Science or Engineering related discipline, delivered by a recognized learning institution.
