Your role

CBC Digital Strategy & Products is hiring a Senior UX Researcher to support the design and development of digital products.

The Senior UX Researcher will lead user experience research initiatives for product discovery and delivery, working closely with Product Managers and Directors to define research direction, identify knowledge gaps, and propose research initiatives. A collaborative approach is essential for coordinating activities, avoiding research duplication, and maintaining a clear focus on desired outcomes.

The Senior UX Researcher will advance UX Research maturity at CBC DS&P by enhancing and streamlining processes and workflows to boost productivity and achieve research goals. They will also champion accessibility and inclusivity as core values in all UX Research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and prioritize key research initiatives and track user behaviour trends.

  • Collaborate with product teams and stakeholders to identify and prioritize research initiatives that align with quarterly objectives and product strategy.

  • Provide thought leadership to pinpoint evolving user behaviour trends that could influence the future user experience.

  • Lead the development and review of a cross-product research roadmap.

  • Secure buy-in from product teams and DS&P leadership for research initiatives.

  • Execute research initiatives and lead collaborative efforts with a focus on actionable outcomes.

  • Execute end-to-end research initiatives, including gathering requirements, planning activities, recruiting participants, collecting and analyzing data, and sharing findings.

  • Lead collaborative research efforts by aligning goals, fostering teamwork, and facilitating successful outcomes.

  • Identify and coordinate large, intersecting research initiatives to avoid duplication and maintain a clear focus on outcomes.

  • Promote UX research knowledge and practices across the organization.

  • Take a lead role in disseminating UX research knowledge throughout CBC DS&P by effectively communicating research findings (both past and present) to relevant stakeholders.

  • Develop strategies to help the organization understand the purpose and benefits of UX research.

  • Foster collaboration among CBC departments to share insights and enhance the user experience.

  • Build relationships with other CBC research departments (Business Insights, Audience Research, National Client Services) to share research insights and identify opportunities for collaboration.

  • Promote knowledge sharing among CBC departments (Marketing and Branding, Media Solutions) that impact the user experience and product development.

  • Stay current with UX research methodologies and explore ways to enhance research techniques.

  • Regularly review and update research methodologies to stay current with evolving best practices in the user experience field.

  • Explore innovative UX research technologies to enhance data gathering and synthesis.

  • Take a lead role in UX research operations and ensure accessibility and inclusivity are integral to all initiatives.

  • Help lead the management and optimization of processes, tools, and practices supporting UX research activities.

  • Ensure all UX research activities prioritize inclusivity and accessibility, and promote diversity.

  • Mentor junior UX researchers and guide product teams in continuous discovery initiatives.

  • Provide guidance to junior UX researchers by providing feedback on their work, sharing best practices, and offering advice on skill development.

  • Guide and educate the product team to engage in independent research initiatives, integrating continuous discovery methods.

Key Qualifications:

  • Experience

  • The Senior UX Researcher must have 5+ years of applied UX research experience, with a proven track record delivering valuable insights for product development and improvement.

  • Education

  • A suitable candidate should possess a degree in a behavioural research related field (psychology, human-centred interaction, user experience design) or equivalent work experience.
