Purpose

The Senior Product Owner – Salesforce will contribute to the overall success of International Commercial Banking in building and deploying the Salesforce CRM across all International Commercial Banking markets. They will develop a strategic roadmap to deliver key business initiatives, strategies and objectives.

The successful candidate will collaborate with key partners and stakeholders to deliver on all bank priorities and ensure all activities are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The Senior Product Owner, Salesforce will assume end-to-end ownership for the development and strategic roadmap of the Commercial Salesforce CRM Platform by leading a cross-functional team to conceptualize, define and implement the Salesforce CRM and develop a foundation for the Salesforce Ecosystem strategy for International Commercial Banking. You will leverage your ability to organize and motivate teams, work in tandem with other Product Owners, International Banking Technology, Canadian Banking Technology (CBT) Partners, Business Lines/Countries, Subject Matter Experts, Vendor Partners and Software Developers and Designers to translate customer journey directives into actionable backlog deliverables.

As the Senior Product Owner, Salesforce you will be an advocate for the client and employee experience by continuously engaging SMEs and stakeholders to ensure the team is building the right solution and adding value for our Relationship Manager, Stakeholders and ultimately our Clients.

What You’ll Do:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Develop, maintain and execute the Salesforce CRM roadmap.

  • Develop and maintain a detailed prioritized product backlog in concert with other Product Owner; prioritize and sequence the Backlog according to business value/ROI.

  • Convey the vision and goals at the beginning of every Release and Sprint.

  • Inspect the product progress at the end of every Sprint and has authority to accept or reject work done.

  • Establish relationships with key partners to ensure their requirements are translated into the right technology solutions.

  • Work with IBT/CBT/Design teams to determine feasible technical solutions and reasonable implementation timelines.

  • Engage with scrum teams writing and clarifying user stories, participating in sprint planning and reviews, backlog grooming and prioritization.

  • Facilitate problem solving as required, working closely with design, development and delivery teams on implementation challenges.

  • Engage with analytics teams to establish, measure and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for new features.

  • Engage with Business Lead and effectively communicate product release contents and expected product capabilities/customer journey.

  • Coach team members and help with their development / desired outcomes as required.

  • Escalate issues to Business lead to remove barriers to progress and address issues proactively.

  • Communicates status externally to the other POs and project stakeholders.

  • Lead cross-functional teams, without direct authority and ensure effective deployment of resources by:

  • Ensuring that expectations, accountabilities, objectives, and goals are effectively communicated

  • Build team competence with partner support and endorsement

  • Timely communicating to multiple stakeholders on progress and issues

  • Resolving issues between team members/stakeholders to meet objectives / overcoming obstacles/guiding to alternatives, if required.

  • Reporting to senior management the progress of (and escalating issues with) recommendations and solutions to consider.

  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her/their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.

What You'll Bring:

  • Business, Engineering, Computer Science degree with related experience in product management and/or product ownership

  • MBA preferred

  • 3-5 years experience in Product Ownership of a SaaS based platform or consulting experience. Prior experience with Salesforce preferred

  • Strong understanding of the Commercial Banking business lines including policies and processes, servicing models and products

  • Full professional proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferred

  • Strong knowledge on a wide range of current market delivery segments and emerging technologies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to influence stakeholders

  • Previous work experience/success in product development/management, business analysis or in a related field

  • Excellent project delivery skills, with proven accomplishments leading cross-functional projects

  • Strong problem solver with ability to lead the team towards solution and progress

  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail

  • Curious and experimental mindset to drive innovation amidst uncertainty

  • Experience with Agile methodologies preferably scrum

  • Technical knowledge with understanding of systems, design and architecture

  • Maintain an understanding of the financial services industry and trends in digital banking
