We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Product Designer to To be an engaged and supporting member of theUIVIZ team, an embedded group within Scotiabank’s Product Design community that specifically combines UX design with UI / visual design, interaction principles and creative direction to push the limits of what it means to create an impactful, engaging and beautiful experience for our vast digital product portfolio.

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • You will greatly influence the design decisions for digital experiences that touch millions of users every day.

  • Evolve Scotiabank’s digital visual strategy across products, experiences and problem spaces; set and refine the design quality bar, in partnership with design community, through our principles and design strategy.

  • Closely partner with other UX/Product Designers to ideate and visualize new concepts, solutions that enhance and elevate the human experience of a product.

  • Collaborate with the greater design community – particularly Design Strategists, Service Designers, Content writers – to craft and refine ideas, support visioning and storytelling of our products and our customers.

  • Present and articulate the thinking behind your work to key stakeholders, design directors, and team members.

  • You will understand our users’ motivations and needs, leveraging rigorous design research and usability principles as well as your intuitive design sense.

  • You will advocate for accessible design principles and implementation.

  • You will provide feedback and coaching to other Designers at different levels of experience

  • You will perform in an open environment, striving to be persuasive and engaging while being self-driven

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • 3-5+ years of experience with an end-to-end product / UXUI design background, with advanced UI and visual design skills

  • Educational Background in Design, Art direction or related fields

  • Extraordinary storyteller. You are an expert in bringing stories to life that are visually rich and are comfortable in pushing the medium to never-seen-before executions.

  • Passion for developing standards and design systems that create huge impact through simple solutions.

  • Exceptional attention to detail. You are a master of craft, composition, imagery, typography, iconography, and color.

  • On top of current design + cultural trends. You follow the latest news in design, music, art and tech.

  • Talent for articulating ideas. You command the room when presenting your work to other designers and cross-functional teams. You have excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills.

  • A creative work portfolio that showcases an excellence in compelling ideas, UIUX design, and visual storytelling

  • Master of design tools. You are fluent with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Figma and/or Sketch.

  • A fast learner who has an appetite to learn what’s behind both simple and complex financial solutions.

  • A positive and resilient personality. You must be able to embrace feedback and have a desire for continuous iteration and improvement.

  • A demonstrable history of applying design thinking tenants and user centered design principles to challenges at work or in everyday life.

  • Bonus Skills and Interests: Illustration, animation and/or video editing skills; prototyping software
