The Senior Payroll Analyst is responsible for supporting and providing guidance to Payroll Analysts on bi-weekly payroll processes and audits, manage complex employee inquiries, help identify process gaps, and suggest process improvements. You will also assist management with various projects, testing, KPI reporting, and the preparation of tax forms and other year-end accountabilities.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
Processes complex payroll activities in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring the integrity of payroll data, and monthly reporting of KPIs
Provides guidance and support to Payroll Analysts in completing and processing payroll activities and audits
Assists Payroll Management with investigating and resolving discrepancies/errors, escalates for resolution where appropriate
Assists with various payroll projects, testing, provide insights, and ensuring efficiency within SAP
Assist with year-end activities and processes such as preparing tax slips, annual reconciliations and filings, and working with HR partners to ensure a successfully closing
Ensures the processing and completion of all payroll data are in compliance with the Bank’s policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements
Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
Leads by example by being a champion in PEGA case management, delivering quality customer service and keeping our employees and client satisfaction top of mind, while delivering on our SLA and commitment to our customers
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations within his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Human Resouces, Accounting or Business or related field
PCP or PLP Designation from the National Payroll Institute – Completed or in progress
3 to 5 years experience in a high volume complex payroll environment
Large scale ERP experience preferrably with SAP and/or PeopleSoft HCM
Strong knowledge of Federal and Provincial Employment Standards legislation
Deep understanding and knowledge of Bank policies and procedures is an asset
Strong knowledge of Organizational structure and complexity
Strong knowledge of payroll policies, processes and practices
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Attentive to details and deadlines; ability to manage multiple priorities
Experience with transaction processing and data management
Intermediate to Advanced Excel
Strong analytical skills
