What you’ll be doing

As the Senior Manager, Taxonomy you will design, implement, and manage a scalable taxonomy system for marketing metadata, customer journeys, and content, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry standards.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed

  • Taxonomy Development & Strategy - Design and implement a scalable taxonomy framework for marketing needs. Ensure taxonomy aligns with business objectives and industry standards. Refine and optimize the taxonomy structure for evolving needs and new technologies. Implement accurate metadata tagging processes for improved searchability and efficiency. Establish and enforce metadata tagging standards and guidelines. Conduct regular audits to ensure taxonomy effectiveness. Stay updated on industry best practices and trends in taxonomy and metadata management.

  • Customer Journey Mapping & Integration - Develop and manage taxonomies for customer journeys to facilitate targeted and personalized marketing efforts. Support CIBC's vision of achieving automated hyper-personalization at scale. Collaborate with business units to understand data needs and translate them into taxonomy requirements. Work with cross-functional teams to integrate taxonomy with marketing technologies and data management systems. Develop and enforce consistent terminology across marketing technology platforms and teams.

  • Training, Support, Governance, and Documentation - Provide training and support to employees on using taxonomy & metadata systems effectively. Establish and enforce metadata tagging standards and guidelines. Stay updated on industry best practices and trends in taxonomy and metadata management. This role is crucial in creating a common language across marketing tech platforms, facilitating seamless collaboration, and ensuring high-quality, consistent data across all channels.

  • Desired Outcomes : Establish a common source of truth for marketing technology stack usage. Provide a point of reference for creating new components within the stack. Create a common language across all tech stacks and a knowledge base for marketing operations, journeys, tactics, and client data.

Who you are

  • Extensive experience in taxonomy development, implementation, and management.

  • A solid understanding of content management systems (CMS) and marketing technologies.

  • Strong metadata tagging expertise.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams , including marketing, analytics, and technology.

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills.

  • A passion for data organization and a commitment to building a robust and scalable information architecture.
