Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Sales & Partnerships team within Scotia iTRADE in Canada, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. The Senior Manager, Sales & Partnerships is responsible for all-bank partner engagement and the profitable growth of Scotia iTRADE (SiT) through the retail and non-retail partners, internal sales and online direct channels.

The Senior Manager, achieves this by leading and developing a team of Business Development and Partnerships Managers and National Consultants, in the delivery of two-way sales referral activities (into and out of Scotia iTRADE), coaching to the achievement of KPIs, and building/leveraging of strong relationships with all internal and external partners.

Additionally, the Senior Manager is responsible for supporting the Director, Sales & Partnerships in the execution of firm-wide prioritized initiatives that will directly result in achieving near and long-term business results. The individual will oversee and contribute to the successful implementation of strategic initiatives, business planning and integrated communication plans by working closely with internal stakeholders and support groups. The Senior Manager will report directly to the Director, Sales & Partnerships.

Accountabilities

Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.

Sales, Business Development and Partnerships:

  • Developing and implementing effective Scotia iTRADE sales strategies across all channels.

  • Setting all acquisition channel targets and holding National Consultants accountable for the achievement of sales goals and sustained levels of high performance.

  • Ensure all team members lead consistent and effective interactions with all retail and nonretail partners providing awareness of the Scotia iTRADE value proposition and soliciting referral opportunities into Canadian Wealth Management.

  • Develops and maintains strong internal and external partner relationships to positively influence opportunities for cross-business partnerships to enhance the client experience and drive business growth

  • Prudent expense management of team budgets, constantly looking for expense optimization opportunities.

  • Minimizes risk and losses by knowing and adhering to Scotiabank and Online Brokerage (OLB) policies, procedures, and key controls.

  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-today activities and decisions.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • Champions a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment; Implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by communicating business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.

Business Planning & Strategy:

  • Oversees and contributes to the successful implementation of change initiatives, projects, including marketing campaigns, product launches and department-specific materials by working closely with internal stakeholders and support groups.

  • Conducts research, trend and cost/benefit analyses to identify opportunities for innovation, diversification, business and revenue growth.

  • Works alongside the Director to provide insightful business analysis and support during the profit planning process as well as the reporting of monthly, quarterly and year-end results to various stakeholders, including presentations, commentaries and dashboards, to drive a deep understanding of business results.

  • Identifies opportunities to improve the business’ Net Promoter Score (NPS), a key driver of client satisfaction as well as other key metrics against industry benchmarks.

  • Takes ownership of his/her Personal Development Plan, working with the Director in the identification of skills, behaviours and competencies required to achieve objectives and goals.

  • Supports Director with Scotia iTRADE business reporting including quarterly blue book, Executive monthly highlights and GWM volume and absenteeism reporting.

  • Supports department wide communication and approval process including writing and reviewing in alignment to Scotia iTRADE and Canadian Wealth Management Strategy.

Education / Experience / Designations

  • 5+ years wealth management/Financial Services experience is required – with a strong preference given to sales experience with various internal channels (Retail Banking, Private Banking, etc.).

  • Solid understanding of Canada’s financial services industry.

  • Expert knowledge of competitive offerings, market trends, economic conditions in the online brokerage business.

  • Highly motivated, results-oriented individual with strong organizational skills to coordinate and prioritize a number of concurrent projects.

  • Proven coaching and communication abilities to identify talent, uncover internal learning opportunities, give regular feedback and provide ongoing mentoring/coaching effectively with management and employees.

  • Excellent project management, planning and analytical skills.

  • Strong negotiating, influencing and communication skills (written and oral) to influence all levels of the organization through the presentation of insight based on sound experiences.

  • Strong leadership, relationship management and interpersonal skills that facilitate a positive and effective team environment at all levels of the organization.

  • Solid experience working with standard Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Excel and PowerPoint) and Salesforce CRM.

Working Conditions

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.

  • Occasional travel within the incumbent’s assigned region (and occasionally outside of it) will be required.
