Join our dynamic Global Compliance & AML Governance team and play a pivotal role in ensuring our business strategies, plans, and initiatives are executed in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. Accountabilities
Champion a Customer-Focused Culture: Deepen stakeholder relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge to drive success.
Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with Business Line & Corporate Function Compliance teams to ensure the operationalization and anchoring of Compliance Documents enterprise wide.
Manage Operational Risk Activities: Coordinate activities such as Third Party Risk Management (TPRM), Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), New Initiative Risk Assessments (NIRA), and Scenario Analysis.
Support Strategic Compliance Programs: Assist the Director in ensuring a consistent approach to compliance programs and in OSFI submissions.
Maintain Document Management Standards: Oversee the GC & AML Document Management Standards and manage the Global Policy Management Tool & Repository.
Provide Expert Advice: Offer counsel on Global Compliance documents to ensure minimum standards are met including alignment to Global Compliance Risk Management Framework and Target Operating Model.
Oversight and Reporting: Provide oversight and reporting on Global Compliance & AML documents.
Risk Appetite Management: Manage the annual review of the Global Compliance & AML risk appetite.
Document Review and Updates: Review and update Global Compliance documents owned by the Governance team and coordinate stakeholder reviews received other internal groups such as Enterprise Risk, Operational Risk etc.
Support Strategic Initiatives: Assist the Director in overseeing strategic Compliance Initiatives.
Third Party & Regulatory Request: Support the delivery of any ad hoc Compliance requests, such as those from OSFI.
Annual Effectiveness Self-Assessment: Manage and support the Annual Effectiveness Self-Assessment process for Global Compliance.
Risk Management: Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Foster an Effective Team Environment: Create an environment where your team pursues effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring adherence to day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in a financial services (FS) institution or in professional services with preferred experience in Compliance, Risk or Audit functions. MBA an asset.
Strong knowledge of compliance & operational risk, regulations (OSFI Guidelines E-21, E-13, B-10), and internal policies & procedures.
Good analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in order to quickly solve problems in a dynamic and demanding environment
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including but not limited to: presentation, prioritization, effective time management, conflict management.
Creative, self-starting, results-oriented and highly motivated individual
Accountable and results oriented
Team player and ability to work in a complex global matrix organization
Willing and able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
Fluency in Spanish (nice to have but not mandatory)
