Reporting to the Director, Diversity Equity and Inclusion, the Senior Manager, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is responsible for advancing the Bank’s culture of Inclusion by working within the Bank’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) centre of expertise with focus for Equity Deserving Groups and their intersectional identities within an assigned portfolio. The Senior Manager collaborates with a range of stakeholders, including Enterprise Marketing, Social Impact, Employees Resources Groups, Functional Lines of Business DEI leadership, etc, to drive forward the execution of the organization wide diversity, equity and inclusion strategy for all employees. The Senior Manager champions an inclusion focused culture to create a diverse and equitable environment to make Scotiabank the employer of choice for the diverse communities that we serve.

You will be responsible for supporting the Director, Diversity Equity and Inclusion in implementing a Bank-wide Diversity and Inclusion strategy. Specific responsibilities will include:

Be responsible for supporting the Director, Diversity Equity and Inclusion in implementing a Bank-wide Diversity and Inclusion strategy. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Support and advise on the ongoing development and execution of the Global Inclusion strategy, and associated programs and policies.

  • Be a role model and ambassador for the global DEI strategy; lead the development and delivery of initiatives designed to enhance and build a culture of inclusion and ensure the long-term sustainability of our DEI efforts.

  • Cultivate strong and positive working relationships with key stakeholders within the Bank to support the ongoing adoption and integration of the Global Inclusion Strategy.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to relevant Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to approve their plans, budget and ensure they are executing activities in alignment with the overall Global Inclusion strategy.

  • In partnerships the Global Inclusion Leadership, establish and maintain diversity analytics, including benchmarking, tracking metrics to measure the effectiveness of assigned portfolio DEI programs and initiatives, regularly assessing progress and making data-driven recommendations for improvements,

  • Manage, engage, inspire, educate and provide direction to direct report, ensuring their development, growth, understanding and influence of an inclusive environment.

  • You build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.

  • Uphold and advance the Banks’s dedication to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace by enhancing our inclusive culture through leadership, policies, education, communication, and supportive spaces.

  • Develop and execute employee engagement initiatives that promote a sense of belonging and connection.

  • Act as a champion and strategic partner for DEI across the organization and successfully build and maintain both internal and external relationships with key partners in order to drive meaningful change.

  • Manage all administrative aspects of the DEI strategy, including budgets, logistics and other related duties as necessary.

  • Serves as the key contact and liaison for research projects/ opportunities for equity-deserving group.

  • Stay abreast of legislation, regulations, reporting, and best practices related to DEI.

  • You understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • You create an environment in which your team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of demonstrated experience in a position (s) related to the promotion of and demonstrated awareness of all facets of diversity, including cultural, ethnic, gender, age, sexual orientation, veteran status, ability, etc.

  • Experience working on a global team with ability to understand global cultures and localize solutions.

  • A demonstrated track record of working effectively with a range of cross-functional partners.

  • Experience scaling global DEI strategy and initiatives.

  • Engaging presenter; able to articulate ideas, concepts and learning in a compelling and inspirational way.

  • Highly capable of telling compelling stories related to data that are relevant to business leaders and that drives the cultural and behavioral changes to enable an inclusive environment

  • Leads with integrity, maturity, and measure.

  • Project management experience with ability to implement corporate change strategies in partnership with senior leadership and across functions.

  • Strong business acumen supplemented with the proven ability to build successful and effective relationships with individuals at all levels of an organization.

  • Proven communication, facilitation and presentation skills to promote ideas persuasively and effectively, win buy-in for initiatives and work through conflicts, in order to ensure operational alignment and high impact execution.

  • Fluency in Spanish required
