Contributes to the overall success of the Payments & Core Banking Engineering globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Lead 2 – 3 Engineering teams to deliver on business values through planning, discovery, execution and learning phases.

  • Monitor program level risks and dependencies, sharing information with value stream stakeholders.

  • Identify and address team and program level disfunctions.

  • Closely collaborate at the program level with peers to ensure effective and efficient communication between teams.

  • Support program level workshops in training teams on Agile frameworks/methodology.

  • Be the change champion to create structural and cultural changes in the organization to become more agile.

  • Setup and drive CoP (communities of practice) within the program/portfolio.

  • Coach and mentor team members and leadership

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 4+ years of experience in leading technical teams in the capacity of people management

  • 7+ years of experiences in a technical role

  • Proven track record in delivering large scale multi-year projects/program

  • Ability to lead software development teams on tight deadlines

  • Ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders with an open mindset

  • Ability to quickly adapt and build a deep technical knowledge of their team’s deliverable and operating model

  • Have a continuous improvement mindset and be willing to lead by example

  • Familiarwith open-source DevOps tools (Bitbucket/GIT, Jenkins, Artifactory, Gradle, Docker)

  • Knowledge on SWIFT Wire Payment processing / IBM FTM will be an asset
