What You’ll Be Doing

Aligned with the Finance guiding principles, the CIBC Capital Markets Accounting team provides strategic advice and financial support to the Capital Markets non-trading businesses. As a Senior Manager, you will work with a team of professionals to prepare, review and analyze Capital Markets financial information to ensure quality and faithfulness of financial records for the Strategic and Principal Investment Portfolio. You will be involved with quarterly valuation and month-end/quarter-end accounting and reporting processes to support downstream stakeholders such as Statutory Reporting, Regulatory Reporting, and Consolidation groups. You will also work closely with business partners in Strategy & Corporate Development, Commercial Banking, Innovation Banking, CFO teams, and others to ensure the integrity and timeliness of the business units’ financial reporting. You will also address external requests from funds and ensuring the appropriate actions are taken and reflected in the accounting system.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Controllership – You ensure that complete and accurate financial and management accounting information, and supplemental reporting for non-trading portfolios within CIBC Capital Markets.

  • Relationship management – You have strong teamwork, partnership and relationship building skills to act in a collaborative manner with various business partners and stakeholders across the bank.

  • Communication - You have experience and are comfortable working with high-level executives in an advisory and reporting capacity and/or you have been in a client-facing role.

  • Consulting – You provide oversight and advisory over new and ongoing financial reporting processes through understanding the end-to-end and continuously enhancing, automating and standardizing processes.

  • Leadership skills – You support the Management Team to improve employee engagement, business partner satisfaction and shareholder value.

  • Talent management - You will provide guidance, training and development to analysts and contribute to their achievement of departmental goals and objectives.

  • You can demonstrate experience and sufficient understanding of concepts and processes for the accounting of complex and/or sensitive information, including accounting for investments in limited partnerships, private equity funds, as well as holdings in repos and reverse repos, and vanilla and non-standard derivative products.
