The Senior Manager, Business Investments is responsible for leading a team in the governance of Canadian Banking and Global Wealth Management’s strategic investment spend.

Key responsibilities of the mandate include i) Strategic Investment Portfolio (SIP) financial intelligence and insights ii) monitoring spend & execution as well as governance of initiatives through the investment lifecycle.

The overall accountabilities support decision making by senior and executive management and key stakeholders within and outside the Division.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Ensure effective financial management of Canadian Banking & Wealth Management investment spend of the SIP portfolio including forecasting, reporting, insights, & analysis.

  • Lead a team in creation of material for monthly & quarterly SIP reviews by the Group Head & CFO of each business line.

  • Be accountable for month and quarter end reporting to finance partners.

  • Work with key stakeholders to continuously understand upcoming areas of spend / investment need, within affordability.

  • Drive effective resource utilization and capacity with technology partners during plan and ongoing throughout the year.

  • Maintain processes to meet / exceed all project governance standards as developed by the Divisional and Executive Project Management Offices and audit.

  • Continuously challenge existing processes and standards within and outside the team

  • Respond to ad-hoc requests as required.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Accounting designation

  • University degree (preferably MBA, or finance/business)

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of banking experience

  • Strong knowledge of the banking industry and the Canadian Banking and Wealth Divisions

  • Very strong conceptual, analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Demonstrated relationship management expertise

  • Knowledge of BNS finance systems (CAPPM, PEAK, OBI, HYPERION, ) is an asset
