CIBC Senior Manager, Accounting Policy and Advisory in Toronto, Ontario

What You’ll Be Doing

As a member of the Accounting Policy Team, you will participate in the development, interpretation and implementation of CIBC’s accounting requirements in accordance with IFRS. As part of this process, you will consult with and obtain input from partners in Finance, other business support partners and the front office. As a Senior Manager, Accounting Policy & Advisory, you will liaise with the Canadian Bankers Association, other banks and the External Auditors on related financial accounting and reporting issues.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Conceptual and organizational skills – being able to see the “big picture” in a complex environment.

  • Problem solving and analytical skills – ability to elicit necessary information to provide value-added advisory services to internal business partners and ability to work independently.

  • Verbal communication skills - both one-on-one and in small groups - being able to "sell" recommendations and obtain cooperation across functional groups to achieve objectives.

Who You Are

  • You're a certified professional. You have current accreditation and good standing as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), in addition to at least 5 or more years of relevant work experience.

  • You can demonstrate strong IFRS technical accounting backgroundwith a focus on financial instruments and accounting issues related to financial institutions. You have strong knowledge of IFRS, a good understanding of banking and financial instruments and experience with implementing projects. An understanding of US GAAP, SEC and OSC requirements is also beneficial.
