Canadian Tire Senior Financial Analyst, Accounting, Revenue and Margin in Toronto, Ontario

What you'll do

This SFA role is responsible for complex, and judgment based financial models related to revenue recognition, cost of producing revenue and inventory valuation, primarily for CTR. Some of the models which fall under this SFA’s responsibility are warranty, obsolescence, and FX reasonability.

  • Manage the accounting for major models applicable to the recognition of retail revenue, cost of producing revenues and inventory. This includes performing assessments and updates to models such as Dealer in Transit, inventory triangulation, inventory obsolescence and margin split.

  • Initial point of contact for new business initiatives (new acquisitions, projects, contracts), responsible for ensuring that appropriate accounting decisions are taken and work with accounting group to ensure its execution.

  • Inform Corporate and BU Reporting group of significant changes and decisions taken for each BU Monthly — BUs include CTR, Part Source, and CTP - and assist in month end reporting/analysis.

  • Business support and month end reporting and analysis of revenue and margin for CTR, Part Source, and CTP business units.

  • Prepare Quarterly Reporting to the CTR Dealer FRC on Margin.

  • Annual CTR Contribution Statement preparation and review.

  • Undertake ad hoc projects as required.

What you bring

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in a medium to large company, accounting department, or accounting firm.

  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, CGA, CA, CMA).

  • Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills.

  • Experience using Hyperion Planning & HFM, Peoplesoft accounting systems, and MS Access.

  • Strong problem solving, analytical and strategic thinking skills; able to see the "big picture" in a complex business environment.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships.

  • Ability to clearly and confidently, communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences and

  • Ability to influence and persuade different points of view.

  • Ability to execute multiple projects and drive key business results under tight deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently and in an ambiguous environment.

  • Self-starter attitude with willingness to learn and master new technologies.

  • Action oriented, and comfortable taking calculated risks to better serve our customers and business.

  • Outcome focused, critical thinker with the ability to analyze and visualize, to ensure continuous improvement across our entire business.

  • Collaborative team player with superior influencing skills, who build relationships easily across various stakeholder groups to move initiatives forward.
