This role is a hybrid work arrangement. Work schedule to be discussed with Hiring Manager according to the guidelines defined by the department.

Role Summary:

As a Senior Data Lead in the Finance Data Governance Team, you'll support developing and implementing the strategy for all data management activities across Finance, procurement and other cross-functional areas. You'll also collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, supporting data quality, metadata management, data cleansing, and data access capabilities within the Finance. You will work closely with data owners, stewards, technology, information security, and other stakeholders to set and deliver on business data requirements

The Data Lead will support the oversight and evolution of data quality initiatives across finance and procurement functions. This role requires a deep understanding of finance and procurement functions, data governance principles, data quality assessment, and remediation processes. The ideal candidate will guide the data governance team, collaborate with data owners, and successfully prioritize and resolve data quality issues.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Lead the data governance team, providing strategic guidance and expertise.

  • Develop and refine data governance frameworks and policies tailored to finance and procurement functions.

  • Mentor team members to enhance their understanding of data governance practices and tools.

Data Quality Oversight:

  • Oversee the profiling and analysis of data quality issues within specified data domains and business functions.

  • Work closely with data owners and governance pods to identify critical data quality problems and devise effective solutions.

  • Ensure the implementation of data quality standards, methodologies, and best practices across the organization.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Facilitate collaboration and communication between data governance pods, data owners, and other stakeholders across the Corporation.

  • Present data quality findings and progress reports to senior management and key stakeholders.

  • Advocate for the importance of high data quality standards and robust data governance.

Project Management:

  • Prioritize and assign remediation tasks based on business impact and data quality assessments.

  • Manage timelines, resources, and scopes to ensure timely delivery of data governance deliverables.

  • Monitor and report on the status of data quality improvement initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong background in the finance and procurement functions

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in data governance or a related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong understanding of data quality tools, data management processes, and best practices.

  • Proven experience in leading data governance initiatives and mentoring teams in complex organizational settings.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You're confident in your ability to synthesize information and communicate detailed information in an impactful way.

  • You act like an owner. You thrive when you're empowered to take initiative, go above and beyond, and deliver results.

Desirable Skills:

  • Deep experience in finance and procurement data management.

  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and standards affecting data privacy and governance.

  • It's an asset if you have a Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP®) designation or other Certifications in data governance or quality management (e.g., DGSP).

  • It's an asset if you have prior experience with Data Management solutions to perform ETL (Extract, Cleanse, Transform, and load) data from legacy (SAP) systems to on-premise or cloud applications such as Oracle Cloud or SAP S4 HANA would be considered an asset.
