CIBC Senior Consultant, Database Engineer in Toronto, Ontario

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Consultant in the Infrastructure Management team, you will be part of CIBC’s Cloud Engineering and Transformation organization. You will provide technical leadership on infrastructure design, and also develop best practices and standards for Oracle Database 23ai Multitenant deployment in the enterprise. As an engineer, you will provide 3rd level support for incidents related to the database infrastructure. You will develop automation scripts for database security hardening and infrastructure management. You will also have the opportunity to work on Oracle Database@Azure service. You will adopt Agile methodologies in projects deliverables and day to day activities.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Leadership & Communication – Collaborate with senior leaders across the company and make informed recommendations to enhance automation related solutions. Weigh business needs against technology offerings, security concerns and provide recommendations to improve automation, which are practical and achievable

  • Governance – Proactively contribute to governance initiatives in the development of company policies, audit requirements etc. Provide technical or business guidance to clients within and outside your own department.

  • Engineering – Lead evaluation, selection, design and implementation of new and emerging products and techniques; support the development of business/technology proposals by estimating implementation costs and evaluating options; provide comprehensive senior level technical consulting to other IT senior management and senior technical teams; provide subject matter expertise on specific existing technologies. Manage the ongoing vitality of the technology throughout its lifecycle.

  • Oracle Multi- tenant –Oracle Multi-tenant architecture allows databases to function like a container database with multiple pluggable databases. As SME, your expertise and experience will play a key role in transforming existing non-CDB databases to multi-tenant databases, database consolidation and database management.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience in: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in managing Oracle multi-tenant databases, including initial setup, CDB/PDB database administration and converting non-CDB databases into CDB/PDB model

  • 5-10 years of experience in managing Oracle RAC, Data Guard and ASM

  • 3-5 years of in-depth knowledge of database hardening, audit compliance reporting and scripting

  • Hands-on experience on troubleshooting Oracle database incidents

  • Hands-on experience and proven knowledge of database patching

  • Working knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager

  • Working knowledge of database in Microsoft Azure Cloud , PostgreSQL database and Microsoft SQL Server

  • Working knowledge of Oracle Advance Security products Transparent Data Encryption at rest TDE, Database Vault and Oracle Key Vault (OKV)

  • Working knowledge of automation and DevOps tools like Ansible, GitHub, Artifactory and Agile methodologies

  • You have strong knowledge of: IT Standards, Policies and Procedures and have the ability to use and administer the organization's technology practices, standards and procedures appropriately to diverse situations
