PURPOSE:

The Regional Vice President, Business Developmentleads the business development growth strategy with a large focus on growth through acquisition of experienced advisors in the region. The incumbent will lead the regional recruitment efforts through the Advisor Value Proposition and by working with key stakeholders including the Regional Directors, Branch Managers, and Wealth Management partners. The incumbent works closely with Senior Leadership as they are responsible for business development activities and engagement efforts for all leads coming from Regional Management. The Director, Business Development is also responsible for the overall advisor onboarding preparedness and coaching for integration.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Regional accountability to lead the acquisition of experienced advisors in the region and meet predefined targets for growth of the Region’s AUA through the development and execution of strategic recruitment priorities, business plans and objectives including owning the Advisor Value Proposition.

  • Lead on the end-to-end Advisor recruitment journey, from networking and recruiting, through the due diligence process, the deal development and approval, and onboarding process up to Day 1. Liaise with the Regional Director, Regional Manager Administration and Branch Management teams for seamless handover to in-Branch employee and client onboarding.

  • Responsible for the building and development of key strategic alliances, including Regional Directors, Branch Managers, and key stakeholders within Wealth Management to support the identification and recruitment and onboarding of experienced Advisors.

  • Develop, maintain, and leverage key external resources including Centres of Influence (COI) network for external business referrals. Develop a visible community profile for Scotia Wealth Management & ScotiaMcLeod where applicable to support recruitment efforts.

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Actively Pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • Champions a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment

DO YOU HAVE THE SKILLS:

  • University degree or equivalent relevant work experience

  • Expert knowledge of the wealth management advisory industry and factors that influence it (i.e. market trends, client needs, competition, economic & regulatory environment)

  • Exceptional Wealth Advisory business development and leadership skills having worked successfully for 10+ years at a senior level within the industry

  • Well-developed network of relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders, Centres of Influence and business alliances in order to identify and grow the business

  • Well-established existing network – strategic / long-term relationships

  • Strong knowledge of the regulatory environment applicable to the investment management industry

  • Proven track record of performance excellence meeting targets and objectives while providing exceptional customer service

  • Ability to recognize and interpret business opportunities and recommend solutions
