What You’ll Be Doing
Retail Payment Team Supports the processing of several payment methods for CIBC's retail, commercial and capital markets clients, including Visa and Mastercard Credit, Visa and Mastercard Debit, Interac e-Transfer, and Cheque. The Reconciliations officer , Operations Management [Unionized] is responsible for reconciling complex Suspense accounts and investigating requests to resolve processing errors. The role is accountable for the accurate and timely reconciliation and reporting of various suspense accounts within CIBC using the Reconciliation process as well as defined manual processes. Sustain operational controls and mitigate operational risks while meeting or exceeding all Service Level Agreements. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements using some independent judgement according to well-defined procedures and guidelines and escalating issues as appropriate. The Reconciliations officer follows well defined procedures and guidelines to escalate issues in a timely manner that require contact with partners, further analysis or investigation for resolution. The role maintains adherence to risk and governance standards by completing all requirement documentation, ensuring that all processes and procedures are followed. As the Reconciliations officer you will be responsible for reconciling various suspense accounts. You will liaise with Internal and External Partners in fulfilling any requests in this matter. You will also be responsible for overseeing the various processes handled by the team.

How You’ll Succeed
Balancing and reconciliations- Monitor mailboxes of the department and track any anomalies to assist with financials, handle escalations from & to business partners in relation to Suspense account reconciliation in the team. Perform daily transactional and balancing duties required by the business to meet our clients’ needs, which include verification of data and data entry. Help manage the day to day production within the team by distributing work, providing feedback and training, processing validations and investigations, following up on investigations within timelines and meeting deadlines for process requirements.
Relationship Building skills - Maintaining regular contacts with the internal and external CIBC partners. Work compatibly with officers, supervisors, peers and directs. Develop an in depth understanding of the processes and procedures of the department and establish the importance of customer service quality.
Facilitate Continuous Process Improvement - Proactively look for opportunities of process improvement within compliance to impact positive client experience & smooth operations. Update and upgrade to stay up to date with changes/impacts in the team, ensuring that officers are agile to move with process changes.
Technical Skills - Knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of internal CIBC systems including COINS, TSYS and Post Edge is an asset.
