The Team
Data Quality Assurance Team under Canadian Banking Technology (CBT) Data Services Organization is responsible for Quality assurance & testing automation for all projects related to Data Engineering, ingestion, transformation and delivery between Canadian Banking source applications and Enterprise data lake (EDL), Enterprise Data Warehouse and Global Data & Analytics Platform.
The role:
This position will help to ensure to perform functional and non-functional testing of ETL/ELT jobs for data and analytics platforms, including but not limited to Hadoop, Azure, SQL server, DB2, Oracle, NoSQL. Developing test plans that ensure appropriate functions, features and scenarios are exercised for each new application/release; driving test development and execution to meet the project objectives for each new application/release; testing code fixes and change requests after the data integration jobs move into production including regression testing as appropriate; and establishing a testing framework that promotes a repeatable, quality-driven test process for all phases of the software development lifecycle. Guided by Bank policy, receives direct supervision from the Senior Manager. Within a well-defined task, the QA Specialist is expected to function independently while ensuring that management is kept informed, and that problems and issues are escalated appropriately.

Your passion for Software/Data Quality and ETL testing
Exposure to Big Data, Enterprise Data Lake, Hadoop is an asset
Expert knowledge of SQL queries, ETL, Back-End testing
Work with Technology Partners, Source Teams, Developers, Business Analysts to understand mapping and resolve complex data logic
Work with QAT Leads across value streams within QAT to understand test data requirements and facilitate test data preparation
You are diligent with documenting test artifacts such as, test plans, test cases, test results and defect reports
You are proactive and part of a dynamic team in an Agile environment
You work with your scrum team to design and develop test strategies, testability requirements and implementation strategies
You will contribute to test automation tools and infrastructure by creating and augmenting test cases and test libraries
You are comfortable working in a self-guided manner with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage your own time efficiently, without direct input or oversight
You work as part of a team and encourage both individual and collaborative innovation
You’re a fast learner who has an appetite for learning what’s behind both simple and complex solutions
You have a positive and resilient personality. You must be able to embrace feedback and have a desire for continuous iteration and improvement
You have strong analytical and problem resolution skills
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
QA Specialist with strong ETL testing background, minimum of 9 years of experience
Excellent knowledge of SQL
Experience with Automation skills such as Robot framework, Python, etc.,
Excellent knowledge of data warehouse concepts and database such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, NoSQL(MongoDB, Cassandra)
Experience with one or more ETL applications like Talend, SSIS, Data Stage, Informatics, Oracle Data Integrator
Testing experience in Hadoop and public cloud environment, including Azure
Working knowledge of JIRA, Data Comparison tools
You have experience in software testing techniques, methodologies, and tools
Establish traceability between test cases, user stories and bugs
Expert understanding of UAT standards and methodology
Testing Automation strategy definition and execution
Effective communication skills to address issues with QA testing and other department staff who have varying degrees of experience and technological knowledge
Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
