POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Product Manager at The Globe and Mail you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the functionality of our existing digital product suite. Your primary focus will be to ensure the stability, reliability, and performance of our web and app experiences, while also identifying and implementing opportunities for incremental improvements. You will be at the heart of our operations, collaborating closely with engineering, revenue, business and editorial teams to manage web and app platform updates, address technical issues, and drive product optimizations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Product Maintenance & Optimization:

  • Manage the daily operation of our flagship web and app platforms, ensuring they are stable, reliable, and top-performing.

  • Partner with engineering teams to swiftly address and resolve technical glitches, and implement improvements that enhance the user experience.

  • Support production incidents by ensuring quick resolution and minimal disruption to our operations.

  • Use your analytical skills to track product performance and introduce impactful optimizations.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding product issues, updates, and improvements.

  • Gather and prioritize feedback from revenue, editorial, technical, and business teams to align product development with organizational goals.

  • Facilitate communication between business and engineering teams to ensure alignment on product changes and updates.

  • Platform Management:

  • Manage app store presence, respond to reviews, and create release notes.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive platform documentation, including technical specifications and user guides.

  • Implement best practices for product management to ensure consistent and high-quality product delivery.

  • Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and product optimizations to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Stay informed about industry trends and technological advancements to proactively address potential challenges and opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in product management or a similar role, with a focus on maintaining and optimizing web and app products.

  • Strong technical background with the ability to understand and communicate technical concepts effectively.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced media or news environment is highly desirable.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a keen ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
