Platform Technical System Analyst, Scotiabank

The Platform Engineering Team is searching for Business Analysis Specialist to liaison between business stakeholders and internal engineering and architect teams, ensuring solutions are developed and delivered on time, efficiently and with high quality for various projects within the team.

The successful candidate will have a results-oriented and curious mindset with strong technical skills. You will work closely with cross functional teams, including engineers, solutions architects, and business teams to develop and implement market leading solutions that are scalable and deliver excellence, and value to our business partners and customers.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Demonstrate an informed knowledge of event streaming platform domain to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities.

  • Ensure business specifications/requirements documentation is accurately prepared and comprehensive to support sizing/development efforts and as input to various project documentation.

  • Develop and deliver Business Requirements Documents, Design Documents, Use Cases, Sequence diagrams, Swim Lane flows and Process Models as required.

  • Develop and maintain new automation/modernize for repeated tasks/reporting

  • Participate in the development of detailed project plans, the monitoring of progress against planned objectives, the financial review, and securing consensus and co-operation from users and senior management.

  • Work closely across technology teams during all stages of the system development life cycle and bridge the gap between business and technology sides of the solution.

  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively prepare and maintain the following documents / tools - Business Process, Process Flow Analysis, Product Architecture and Design Best Practices, Data Model and Detailed Tech Specifications.

  • Liaising between the business community and the IT organization to provide technical solutions that meet user needs.

  • Build relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues both internal and external.

  • Perform ad hoc project work on various projects.

  • Participates in the support of the production and maintenance of the Event Streaming platform.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 5+ years of work experience working across multiple teams and functions to ensure alignment.

  • 3+ years of work experience building scalable, enterprise level technology stacks with Java but ideally with a broad set of tools

  • 3+ years of work experience as a Java developer with a preference for Java 8

  • Proficient in J2EE to support Enterprise Applications and Services

  • Extensive experience working with Spring MVC framework, Google Cloud Platform and Microservices

  • 1+ years practical experience in event streaming and event driven architecture.

  • Minimum 1 years working knowledge of Kafka, API, Spring Boot microservices and databases.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to new processes and standards, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver working results.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • A recognized undergraduate degree or diploma in business administration, computer science or related field required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, software engineering or related field

  • Excellent working experience of Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

  • Functional knowledge of Event Driven Architecture.

  • An understanding of the Bank’s application system and software from a business/technical viewpoint is required to assess the impact of development and/or changes to the overall data processing environment).

  • Working knowledge of Kafka is a must.

  • Experience supporting Event Streaming applications is required.

  • Working knowledge of UML and RUP.

  • Working Experience managing projects that span change in front, middle or back-office systems and teams.

  • Working knowledge of API microservices is required.

  • Experience with postman, or another API testing tool is required.

  • Spanish is an asset

  • Master (MA or MSc) in business, software engineering, computer science, or related field preferred
