Are you an aspiring Production Assistant looking for an opportunity to advance your career in an interesting and great working environment?

We produce regional and national newscasts on OMNI Television across Canada, to deliver compelling multilingual relevant content to Canadians. We are looking for a competent Production Assistant (Part-time casual) who will contribute to a positive attitude and energy to the team and work hard to manage and improve our behind-the-scenes procedures.

What you will do...

  • Work with director to assist both live shows and pre-tape programs

  • Prepare all paperwork such as scripts and rundowns for control room staff and hosts

  • Ensure every item on rundowns is accurate and ready to air

  • Double check tech-info input to ensure accuracy

  • Deliver messages among team members

  • Support and set-up studio interviews efficiently

  • Help with various administrative work

  • Other duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor

What you will bring:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Proactive problem solver

  • Knowledge of Inception software and Quantal server an asset

  • Knowledge of newsroom automation Overdrive an asset

  • Available to work various shifts including afternoons and evenings

  • Computer savvy and excellent mathematics skill in calculation

  • Good knowledge of television production including production control room operations

  • Professional College Degree or equivalent, preferably in in broadcasting, media communication, journalism, or a related field

  • 1-3 years relevant experience including live playout in a news production environment

As a condition of hire, all new employees will be required to provide proof of vaccinations against COVID 19. Any request for an exception under Human Rights legislation must be supported by evidence to be considered by Rogers on a case by case basis.
