The Manager, Third Party Risk Management contributes to the overall success of the Canadian Banking Internal Controls Unit ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The Manager, Third Party Risk – Internal Controls will ensure business controls are being followed to reinforce a strong risk and control culture in Canadian Banking focusing on Third Party Risk. The incumbent will also ensure best practices are used, leveraging lessons learned across Canadian Banking and assist with identifying and addressing issues, which may be more systemic.

Is This Role Right for You? In this role, you will:

  • Develop strong relationships with Canadian Banking Risk Owners, serving as the primary conduit between the Risk Owners, GRM-TPRM Operations and Control Functions

  • Assist contract owners in accurately completing third-party contract risk assessments and due diligence activities within the TPRM system on a timely basis.

  • Work with contract owners / vendor management office to ensure all ongoing monitoring activities are being completed on time as required.

  • Ensure all applicable stakeholders are kept informed and aware of all Third Party Risk Management program updates and communications.

  • Supports the implementation and execution of Third Party Risk Management metrics and indicators to ensure adherence to the Third Party Risk Management policies and frameworks.

  • Assist the Senior Manager with developing and provide timely reporting on Third Party Risk Management metrics to Senior Management.

  • Assist the Senior Manager with developing the annual Canadian Banking Third Party Risk Management strategy and plan.

  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve effectiveness and enhancements of the Canadian Banking Third Party Risk Management program.

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration or a related discipline. MBA is preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in an operational/third party risk management or audit function in the financial services industry or 10+ years of relevant Retail & Commercial Banking experience.

  • Strong understanding of regulations and operational risks impacting the Bank and the importance of key mitigating controls.

  • Experience with identifying, documenting and assessing risk and controls within the first line.

  • Strong understanding of OSFI B-10, E-13 and E-21.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to effectively communication with business partners at all levels of the Bank.

  • Proven leadership and time-management skills.

  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and negotiating skills.

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Visio.
