JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for dynamic, strategic, and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Manager, Strategy & Resource Planning.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Projects, the Manager, Strategy & Resource Planning is accountable for developing and executing strategic plans to ensure optimal resource allocation across various projects and initiatives within a matrixed organization. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership, project managers, and department heads to align resources with business objectives and drive successful project outcomes. You will implement strategic and operational processes to mature the resource management program within Digital and Technology Services at OPG.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for resource allocation based on business priorities, project requirements and resource availability.

  • Collaborate with portfolio managers and department heads to assess resource needs, identify gaps, and optimize resource utilization.

  • Conduct regular analysis of resource allocation effectiveness and recommend adjustments as needed to support project delivery timelines and quality standards.

  • Lead and facilitate resource planning meetings to discuss upcoming projects, resource availability, and allocation strategies.

  • Work closely with HR and recruitment teams to ensure timely hiring and onboarding of resources as per project requirements.

  • Develop and maintain resource planning tools, processes, and documentation to support efficient resource management practices.

  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to resource planning and utilization, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to resource planning and management.

  • Identifies and defines operational reporting requirements to improve data quality and consistency and drive data driven decision making related to resource allocations.

  • Analyzes and aggregates reporting from multiple data sources to meet operational business requirements related to resource allocation, position and headcount management and assessing forecast and demand within IT

  • Experience analyzing and transforming data in excel, access, power BI and/or using macros and power automate/power queries considered an asset.

  • Previous experience in resource management, project controls or project management considered an asset

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field (Master's degree preferred). Business, Information Systems, or related discipline.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Years of experience in resource planning, strategic planning, or related roles within the IT industry.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to lead and motivate teams towards achieving strategic objectives.

  • Experience with resource management in ServiceNow, project management software, and business intelligence tools is a plus.

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft excel and/or access skills.
