Purpose:

As a Manager, Projects at Scotiabank, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering on small to large projects/initiatives for business lines within Middle Office such as Trade Life Cycle Management, Trade Control and Client Service. You will utilize your extensive experience and deep expertise in project management within the Risk, Capital Markets, Treasury, and Finance domains to drive critical projects to completion.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Project Direction : Spearhead a variety of projects and initiatives from start to finish, ensuring that every project phase is completed within the established parameters of scope, timeline, and budgetary limits.

  • Stakeholder Engagement : Forge partnerships with high-level stakeholders across multiple utility’s to guarantee fluid communication and strategic alignment with the project's scope, milestones and deliverables. Able to facilitate large group sessions and organize deliverables and take-aways effectively.

  • Strategic Execution : Craft and implement a detailed project strategy that integrates industry-leading practices in project management, change facilitation, and process optimization.

  • Independent Operator : Identifies and resolves issues autonomously with minimal guidance. Comfortable with tight deadlines and quick decision-making. Rapidly acquires knowledge in new business areas or issues, regardless of prior experience

  • Build a high-performance environment : Implement people strategy that will attract and retain talents as well as develop and motivate the team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vision/values/business strategy, and managing succession

  • Champions a culture of continuous operational improvement : by independently resolving highly complex, multi-faceted problems to meet the business needs across MO with a specific focus on creating tangible / measurable operational efficiencies. This involves opportunity identification, preparing proposals, defining business requirements and processes, developing, testing, conversion and implementation strategies, developing detailed project plans, monitoring progress against planned objectives, and securing consensus and co-operations from users and senior management.

  • Supports current and new projects/initiatives as required by the business using project management tools such as MS Projects, JIRA, Confluence, MS Office Suite; and is able to produce effective presentations and proposals for all audiences ranging from SME’s to Executives.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Experience in industry or academia in in the areas of capital markets, finance and banking and/or process improvement, business analysis and solution implementation is preferred.

  • PMP and/or 5+ years’ experience in managing/delivering projects

  • MS Projects, JIRA, Confluence, MS Office Suite

  • Demonstrated knowledge of analytical problem solving and process engineering techniques (i.e. process mapping and analysis techniques)

  • Strong technical abilities including knowledge of basic software engineering principles and experience in (SQL, VBA, Access, Excel preferred), and a sound understanding of operational processes

Work Arrangement: This position is currently a Hybrid role. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
