Canadian Tire Manager, Procurement in Toronto, Ontario

What you’ll do

CTC’s Merchandising Procurement objective is to maximize the value CTC receives for its merchandising spend on a sustainable basis. Since 2013, Procurement has supported the delivery of over $400 MM in benefits.

The Manager Merchandise Procurement (MMP) will manage a team of Senior Procurement Analysts to maximize the value CTR receives for the spend of a specific portfolio of LOBs. Working with the leadership of specific CTR merch Divisions and LOBs, the MMP will develop and execute procurement plans that will support the delivery of the LOBs’ strategy and operating plan. The procurement plan will ladder up to CTR’s procurement vision and objectives, including such things as sourcing strategies, BATNA management, vendor management strategies, RFI/RFQ optimization, productivity analytics, negotiation game plans, and vendor negotiations. In addition, to deliver the mandate of maximizing value on a sustainable basis, the MMP will also work with key cross functional teams, including Pacific Rim Operations and Consumer Brands.

  • Aligning to a specific portfolio of Merch LOBs, improve the value we receive for our merchandising spend. “Value” is defined in broad terms to include improved all-in-margin, quote cost, landed cost, vendor funds, as well as other value drivers like quality improvement, brand/product exclusivity, innovation, etc.

  • Oversee fact-based analytics to drive insights, recommendations, and actions. Scope of analytics would include such things as all-in-margin, cost, assortment productivity, vendor portfolio management, sourcing strategy, RFI/RFQ, bid analysis, and support for vendor negotiations.

  • Support improving the productivity of our vendor relationships - - e.g., buying more from fewer vendors, aligning with the right vendors, longer term agreements, etc.

  • Outside of line reviews, identify and action opportunities that can create improved cost value for the organization (e.g., commodity trends). Also, support the defense against out of cycle cost increases.

  • Increase the penetration and sustainable use of Procurement practices across Merchandising at CTR. Develop and deliver training material to key stakeholders.

  • Engage directly with vendors to optimize negotiated results.

  • Work closely with the Pacific Rim Operation and CBMs to identify and optimize imports as part of our purchasing mix.

  • Manage 5-10 category projects concurrently, ensuring optimal use of team resources, effective project plans, and pro-actively managing the project pipeline to a total Procurement benefit target. Identify best approaches, processes, and tools/analytics to apply to procurement projects.

  • Lead and/or support other ad hoc procurement projects that support the overall Procurement and Vendor Engagement mandate
