As the Manager, Pricing & Portfolio Management, you will be responsible for overseeing Retail Deposits Pricing & Portfolio Management in Canada ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed/ delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. In this role you will also be responsible for monitoring and analyzing market and business data to support business decisions and identify trends in liquidity management and client behaviors, with the goal of identifying deposit growth opportunities for the Bank.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Monitor, assess, and evaluate portfolio trends and to provide ongoing timely insights on developing portfolio trends and KPIs to achieve its annual targets

  • Engage in portfolio performance routine including weekly/monthly results, monthly forecasting, and annual planning in collaboration with Product Team and Finance

  • Develop and apply financial models to measure the performance of the business

  • Monitor competitor offers and ensure investment portfolio’s strategic positioning

  • Continue to enhance and adjust rate optimization models and its underlying methodologies to ensure rates offered are competitive and help meet financial and non-financial KPIs

  • Support the design, development, and maintenance of portfolio models for business analysis and pricing models for pricing exceptions

  • Understand the data and be able to recommend solutions for the design of input and output files when the business needs to develop new analytics or reports

  • Manage or support ad-hoc assignments or special projects for Retail Deposits & Investments in partnership with business line, finance, analytics, retail channel and external partners

  • Manage the Deposits Exception Pricing Desk and the SmartBot tool, supporting across Canadian Retail Banking, Private Banking, and Advisor Deposit Services channels

  • Monitor, track and provide key insights to the Pricing committee on exception trends and competitor offers

  • Assist in managing the GIC Early Redemption inbox to review the exception cases for redeeming non-redeemable GICs

  • Assist the pricing optimization and execution of the approval pricing changes across the Retail Products and Advisor Deposit Services in a timely manner in order to provide a positive customer experience, prevent adverse impact to our P&L, and ensure no regulatory breaches

  • Recommend opportunities to improve our expectation policy and increase operational efficiency by enhancing processes and tools

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions

  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk

  • Champion a high performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Related post-secondary education / MBA or other advanced degree preferred

  • Multiple years of experience in the financial services industry

  • Experience in product P&L management, finance and/or business analytics

  • A good understanding of the GIC market, products, services and processes

  • Strong analytical and communication skills

  • Sold project management skills to prioritize, manage, and implement competing initiatives

  • Excellent time management skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines

  • Advanced skills in using Microsoft Office tools; Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Working experience with SAS/SQL is preferred
