Our Corporate Finance team in Toronto is looking for a professional who has an interest in M&A, capital markets and is looking to build a career in investment banking.

Specifically, as Manager, Business Development and Private Equity Coverage, you will work closely with the Corporate Finance team to support the growth of one of the largest Deals practices in Canada.

What you will do

  • Develop an understanding of valuation and financial concepts related to M&A transactions

  • Develop new relationships with prospective clients in target sectors / markets

  • Research, plan and implement new target market initiatives to pursue potential clients

  • Maintain databases of prospective target clients including private equity portfolio companies and other high priority targets in specific sectors

  • Build a network of prospective clients which align with KPMG Corporate Finance’s strategic market coverage goals

  • Support idea generation and development of creative M&A initiatives for bespoke client discussions

What you bring to the role

  • 1 to 3 years of proven business development, investment banking and/or private equity (M&A experience is a bonus)

  • Solid technical financial proficiency, including a good understanding of financial statements and general accounting principles

  • Passion for establishing and maintaining client relationships, confident communication style with a desire to learn, strive for excellence, a forward thinker

  • A curiosity and ability to connect with leaders and engage in new business opportunities / deal discussions with companies, private equity funds and financial institutions

  • A commitment to continual learning, collaboration and taking on new responsibilities

  • A self-starter who knows when to ask for guidance or support
