Position Overview

Are you curious about innovation in news media? Do you get excited about uncovering unmet user needs and insights that will become elemental to a user experience? Do you nerd out on systematizing your team’s research practice? If so, read on!

As Lead UX researcher, you will create an Experience Vision for The Globe, and apply order and automation to our UX research operations and practice.

What can you expect during 18 months working at The Globe? You will:

  • Analyze, organize, apply systems and automate our UX research operations

  • Dig into our existing research and data to map the complete user journey across all touchpoints

  • Do discovery work to deeply understand our readers’ personal contexts and uncover unmet needs that will be instrumental to our strategy to build an exceptional, possibly surprising and definitely delightful reader experience

  • Produce an Experience Vision that will be fundamental to The Globe’s product strategy

  • Communicate your findings to The Globe’s executive team, the Product Design team, and leaders in Editorial, Marketing and Revenue on a regular basis

  • Mentor our product design team to level up their research skills

You will bring:

  • 8+ years of experience in UX, with significant experience in UX research

  • Your passion for user experience and design thinking

  • A strong desire to be innovative within the news, content publishing and media industry

  • Experience optimizing a research library (we use Airtable), best-practices research techniques and templates, and systems to socialize findings

  • Confidence through experience communicating with leadership and facilitating stakeholder alignment

  • Charisma and clarity in oral communication and documentation

  • Experience working with data and metrics

  • Proven ability to translate both qualitative and quantitative insights to innovation in user experience

  • A positive attitude that embraces diversity and inclusion in the workplace: you have a learning mindset and take initiative to act on feedback and information

  • Extensive experience using research tools such as Airtable, Miro, Google suite or Microsoft

VACCINATION POLICY:

All offers of employment with The Globe and Mail are conditional upon the candidate being Fully Vaccinated.
