KPMG Junior Associate, Employment & Labour Law in Toronto, Ontario

KPMG Law LLP’s Employment and Labour law team includes a group of specialists that have years of experience acting for corporate and institutional clients, across industries and sectors. They have a proven strength in litigation, arbitration, negotiation and human rights matters.

We are looking for a first-year Associate with a passion for Employment and Labour Law to join our team.

About the team:

KPMG Law LLP is a national law firm with offices in Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary and Montreal. KPMG Law LLP is affiliated with the professional services firm of KPMG LLP. Since our approach is to be an integrated multidisciplinary firm, our team of lawyers work closely with accountants on client engagements in other tax practice areas.

What you will do

  • Researching and analyzing employment and labour law issues effectively to develop understanding of the law

  • Involvement in all stages of files including intake, drafting, researching, conducting discoveries, attending motions, negotiating, advocating at mediations, and participating in trails

  • Advise on a wide variety of employment issues with support and supervision of Senior Associates and Partners

  • Identify legal issues, research and analyze complicated situations quickly and develop practical solutions

  • Develop good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders and work effectively with outside counsel

  • Write briefs on regulations, legal/compliance matters and other ad hoc legal issues

  • Collaborate with team of experienced lawyers to address complex employment and labour issues

What you bring to the role

  • Junior Associate, called to the Bar in 2024 and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario

  • Interest in practicing Employment and Labour Law

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Legal writing skills

  • Strong research and analytical skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
