The opportunity

The Financial Services Manager (FSM) supports the Community Support Services (CSS) department by managing accounting tasks such as:

  • Accounts reconciliation, journal entries, and financial analysis.

  • Month-end and year-end close processes.

  • Accurate tracking of revenues and expenses for CSS programs to enable variance analysis.

  • Handling financial operations, corporate credit card management, grant administration, budgeting, and process improvement in collaboration with the Senior Financial Services Manager.

Responsibilities

Financial Operations and Reporting

  • Prepare monthly internal financial reports for program managers.

  • Monitor financial performance and provide monthly variance analysis.

  • Manage quarterly financial reporting for Ontario Health, ensuring funding compliance.

  • Assist with insurance certificates.

Corporate Credit Card Management and Accounts Payable/Reconciliation

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable.

  • Administer corporate credit card processes and reconciliations.

  • Streamline financial workflows with non-finance teams.

Monthly General Ledger Reconciliations

  • Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of general ledger accounts.

  • Resolve discrepancies and maintain thorough financial records.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Collaborate with program directors to prepare program budgets.

  • Ensure compliance with funder requirements for program budgets.

Grant Administration

  • Manage grants for service delivery programs.

  • Monitor grant compliance and ensure reporting deadlines are met.

Financial Systems and Process Improvement

  • Assist with the annual audit by providing documentation and support.

  • Identify and implement improvements to financial workflows for greater efficiency.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or Accounting.

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required.

  • Experience :

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a not-for-profit organization and with Ontario Health.

  • Skills :

  • Advanced Excel proficiency (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, macros, Power Pivot, BI tools).

  • Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage high work volumes.

  • Solution-oriented problem-solving abilities.

  • Attributes :

  • Solid knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
