NATURE AND SCOPE:

The Toronto Blue Jays Field Operations Department is looking for enthusiastic people to join our team as a Field Operations Attendant. This position is responsible for assisting with day-to-day field maintenance functions including but not limited to installation and maintenance of Rogers Centre baseball field to Major League Baseball standards.

Please note that this is a contract position

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the installation and maintenance of the baseball field

  • Upkeep of indoor batting tunnels

  • Maintenance of batting practice screens and equipment

  • Distribution of promotional items

  • Loading and unloading of equipment

  • Set-up and tear down of promotional signage and equipment for special events

  • Clean the field, workshops and storage areas

  • Participate in on camera media or promotional events approved by the club

  • Participate in on-going department projects as assigned

  • Maintain strong, cooperative inter-department relationships

  • General labour tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Eligible to work in Canada

  • Must have obtained an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, or equivalent

  • Have a basic understanding of Major League Baseball rules

  • Excellent work ethic and objectivity

  • Energetic and motivated

  • Self-starter with ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to safely lift 23 kg (Approximately 50 lbs.)

  • Ability to safety run 183 meters (Approximately 200 yards)

  • Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven, team environment

  • Ability to operate utility vehicles such as golf carts

  • Ability and willingness to learn how to safely operate various gas powered and electric powered equipment such as plate compactors, rotto-tillers, power drills, angles grinders etc.

  • Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
