This Opportunity:

We are looking to hire one (1) full-time Employment Support Worker on contract until March 31, 2025 in Toronto, ON (1 Duncan Mills Rd., Toronto).

Roles and responsibilities:

The Employment Support Worker works as part of the Vocational Rehabilitation Team to provide a variety of employment supports to consumers in work trials and employment, including but not limited to:

  • Receiving/reviewing consumer files, employment plan, description of workplace, and progress reports

  • Provide one to one support to job seeker with resume development, preparing for interviews, completing job applications

  • Providing support on site in workplace environments, job and job site analysis

  • Complete assigned tasks to identify need for workplace supports, possible support solutions and the service plan

  • Implementing service solutions to meet client needs, including on site coaching at place of employment as assigned

  • Documenting workplace activities objectively

  • Assist employer to implement natural supports and to assume ongoing supervision and training of the consumer

  • Employer relations – receive employer feedback regarding consumer’s performance and MODC services

  • Identify potential employment programs/services and assist with needs analysis and/or surveys as requested

Qualifications and experience:

  • Degree in social services or equivalent from a Community College/University or equivalent; general business knowledge.

  • One year experience working with persons who have disabilities

  • Experience teaching and coaching adults

  • A varied employment history with experience in several occupations is also an asset

  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle

  • Sensitivity to issues/barriers that people with disabilities experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills

  • Well-developed time management, organization and teamwork skills

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, work well under pressure and meet deadlines​

  • Ability to document, maintain records and analyze and write reports
