What you’ll be doing

The Director, Strategy & Planning, Digital & Direct Marketing will lead a team that collaborates with key Marketing and Line of Business partners across the bank to establish and monitor annual and campaign targets specific to digital and direct marketing conversions. The Strategy & Planning team develops, optimizes, and prioritizes related game plans that identify all the strategies and tactics that need to occur throughout the year in order to achieve our goals. Your direct reports act like business owners for their assigned portfolios by constantly leveraging data to assess current performance, forecast future performance, and to derive insights and business recommendations with the objective of increasing our marketable client base universe, as well as improving our digital client journeys, sales conversions, and product usage. The Strategy & Planning team directs the prioritization of digital and direct marketing work based on estimated return on effort. The team also influences “test & optimize” backlogs and project roadmaps by identifying key capabilities and enhancements required to promote a best in class experience and increase digital’s contribution to the bank’s total sales performance.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed

  • By building and maintaining strong partnerships across the bank. You will work closely with CIBC’s larger Brand & Marketing teams by leading our Go To Market strategy and plan for Digital & Direct Marketing campaigns & journeys. Your strong relationships will extend across other teams including Digital & Enablement, Enterprise Digital, and our Line Of Business partners.

  • You have solid digital marketing experience working within the PEMO framework (i.e. Plan, Execute, Measure & Optimize).

  • Curious, innovative, and analytical in your approach. You lead a team that obsesses over understanding, documenting, and optimizing digital & direct marketing client experiences and journeys to improve conversions and maximize the team’s return on effort. You understand the complexities of non-linear, omni-channel journeys and leverage our marketing technology to present the right message to the right client in the right channel at the right time. Data driven insights and leveraging a test-learn-optimize approach are core to your recommended marketing strategies and plans.

  • Proactive, resourceful, and results driven. You lead a team that can anticipate when we are at risk of not hitting our targets and as a result, proactively develop Close The Gap plans that identify net new strategies and tactics in order to bring us back on track.

  • Strong influencing, story telling, and presentation skills. Highly effective in setting context, simplifying data, insights, and recommendations in order to achieve senior executive buy-in.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in digital marketing, including paid media & on-site journey optimization.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in direct marketing strategies & tactics targeting existing clients with a strong focus on onboarding, engagement, and franchising.

  • Strong leadership skills. You thrive on building teams from the ground up and are highly effective in leading teams on a digital transformation journey.

  • You possess strong change management skills with strategic consideration given to people, process, and technology. You are equally motivated to achieve both business outcomes (ex. digital sales) and operational efficiencies (ex. reduced effort and time to market).

  • You have a proven track record of leading high performing teams accountable for achieving aggressive digital conversion targets (ex: digital banking registration & usage, digital account open, product usage, etc.).

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of current digital media platforms and digital marketing tools (ex: Google Marketing Platform, Facebook, SFMC, Adobe Analytics, Data Studio, Tableau).

Who You Are

  • You're passionate about people. You find meaning in relationships, and surround yourself with a diverse network of partners. You build trust through respect and authenticity.

  • You're digitally savvy. You seek out innovative solutions and embrace evolving technologies. You can easily adapt to new tools and trends.

  • You love to learn. You're passionate about growing your knowledge, and you know that there is no limit to what you can achieve.

  • You're driven to succeed. You are motivated by accomplishing your goals and delivering your best to make an impact.

  • You understand that success is in the details. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.

  • Values matter to you . You bring your real self to work and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
