What you’ll be doing

As the Director, Data Security Operations, you will provide oversight over key data security processes and controls and will deliver improvements in how the security of data is managed and reported to across the organization. You will work and collaborate with data owners, data custodians and other major bank stakeholders and programs to ensure the direction is adhered to. This will include managing the team, tools and processes to aggregate, normalize, and prioritize data security gaps for owners to remediate. You will ensure data security practices operate effectively and continually evolve so that owners resolve data security exposures in an efficient and timely manner and will execute data security operations services related to Data Discovery, Data Classification and Data Protection..

How you’ll succeed

  • Implementation of data security – Operate within service levels and risk metrics to monitor effective implementation of data security key controls via the services. Provide consultation to projects regarding Data Security controls to advise on data exposures and participate in strategy and roadmap development for data security services

  • Continuous improvement - Drive continuous improvement within mandate. Deliver operational aspect of projects pertaining to data security prioritization and remediation

  • Reporting and metrics - Ensure effective reporting on data security posture via executive and operational reporting including data discovery, data classification and data protection processes to ensure the remediation of gaps in an effectiveness and efficient manner.

  • People Leadership - Direct, motivate and develop key staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team.

  • Benchmarking - Maintain an external network of contacts in the industry to assist in effective benchmarking and evolution of CIBC capabilities in data security
