What You’ll Be Doing
As Production Application Support Consultant, you will be joining Platform Shared Services AO-DBA team. You will be responsible for providing database support related to MS SQL DB build, application deployment, DB migration, performance tuning and incident resolutions. You will be addressing questions from application owners and developers, working closely with various CIBC Technology groups. You will be working with Solution Design, DB Engineering, Information Security teams and external vendors. You will be providing inputs to database standards, designs, best practices and recommend changes to fit specific application requirements. You will be working with project managers to develop implementation plans, performing database upgrade and cross platform migration activities in both on-prem and cloud. You will be developing automation scripts to deploy codes, database migrations. You will be adopting to Agile methodologies for automation, projects deliverables and day to day activities. You will be using SCOM, Dynatrace, SolarWinds tools to resolve performance issues quickly for business critical applications. You will also be responsible for day-to-day operational activities, managing escalations including 24 x 7 production support.

How You’ll Succeed
Production Support - Investigate and define operational issues and prioritize based on severity, risk and/or strategic business needs. Manage issue logs and Contact Centre requests. Design and implement solutions to prevent recurrence with the end goal of ensuring clients satisfaction.
Partnership - Work as a regular liaison with business partners, technology partners, senior management team, internal and external clients. Ensure internal clients are well-informed of the team mandate and nature, including relevant policies and legislation changes. Promote and support the concepts, products and services of the Channel Support area.
Projects Delivery - Act as subject matter expert in the assessment of impacts for planned system changes and projects, ensuring compliance with relevant organization standards (Business, Continuity, Security, Compliance, and Privacy); develop and maintain productive relationships with Technology, QA, Project team and others. Research, analyze and support the development and implementation of new and/or revised policies, procedures and standards. Investigate, analyze and provide recommendations on issues and system outages.
Who You Are
You can demonstrate experience in: Must have 5+ years of experience in SQL database administration.
Experience on other technologies like MSSQL, SQL, Azure (IaaS, PaaS) is required.
Experience Migrating data from SQL to Azure
Setup/Installation and configuration of SQL products
Experience in Tuning, Query Optimization, Monitoring and Troubleshooting database issues.
Exhibit knowledge of SQL backup restore and recovery. In-depth understanding of SQL strategies
Taking ownership of and leading technical resolutions for production incidents
Communicating clearly complex technical issues to stakeholders and Lines of Business partners. Complying with CIBC standards for change control and overall database security policies
Analyzing recurring incidents and identifying service improvements where possible
Providing on-call rotational/pager support where required.
Participating in Incidents and Changes as part of BAU Operational activities
Participating in Scheduled Disaster Recovery or SCM activities
Participating in post-mortems and RCAs (Root Cause Analysis) of critical incidents Demonstrating critical thinking in the day-to-day database maintenance, troubleshooting and issue resolution
