What you'll be doing

The Consultant, Supplier Governance will work with Senior Director and internal and external stakeholders to ensure contractual obligations are in place according to CIBC's standards and policies for contracts supported by HR Service Delivery team. This role is responsible for minimizing the HR team’s exposure to operational, legal and reputation risks, providing oversight for business as usual activities within the HR Service Delivery team.

The Consultant, HR Supplier Governance role is expected to use independence and proactively work with management and suppliers to resolve contract related items and deal with activities that are time sensitive. The role will participate in the completion of activities associated with governance programs, evaluating and finding opportunities to continually improve ongoing processes.

How you'll succeed

  • Vendor Governance – Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure contractual commitments are in place accordingly to CIBC's standards and policies for all HR Service Delivery support contracts. This includes completing validation and identifying opportunities to deliver sustainable cost savings, conducting quarterly and annual validation on existing contracts

  • Balancing Priorities – Provide leadership and advice in working with a broad variety of business partners and vendors to provide advice and execution on work that is often time sensitive and of a material expenditure. Your ability to manage conflicting priorities is paramount as the engagements range from high value contracts that span multiple years, key strategic priorities that require immediate action and attention and cases where there is a selection process required to ensure we are bringing forward the most appropriate partner for the work required.

  • Strategic Thinking Approach – Take a holistic view to all tasks. You manage and execute the evolution of the vendor governance practice as a common shared service across the HR Service Delivery team. This will include leveraging new tools and providing insights on possible new approaches & strategies that may be contemplated in working with vendors.
