What You’ll Be Doing

As a Business Consultant you'll report to the Director, Product Delivery and Administration and you'll be accountable for support in delivering changes to products managed by CIBC Asset Management (CAM) to help ensure the successful execution of the CAM Product Roadmap which outlines our strategic objectives. You'll be a key part of the team supporting multiple product projects, across the Institutional, Mutual Fund, ETF and Managed Solutions product platforms.

Accountabilities for this role include requirements gathering, analysis, developing processes, test planning, implementation support, organizing tasks/activities and handling various assigned work packages from initiation through to execution and delivery. You'll be adhering to CIBC EDF (Enterprise Delivery Framework) business analysis, testing and project management methodology. You'll be collaborating and interacting with multiple internal partner groups to achieve business project objectives.

In addition, you'll ensure new/enhanced processes are effective, accurately documented, tested, understood, implemented and meet the business objectives of Clients and Partners.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Understanding and documenting requirements - Lead the development of business solutions and creation of Business Requirement Documents to support product initiatives including, but not limited to, launches of new products and changes to existing products. Support/coordinate discovery and walkthrough meetings with stakeholders to clarify current state procedures and develop future state processes. Update and maintain existing project process documents, diagrams and procedures including development and maintenance of internal templates. Support/track the development and distribution of communication materials, including but not restricted to, regulatory documents, marketing artifacts, letters, briefs, reports, emails, meeting minutes. Prepare/update user documentation and/or co-ordinate the Training & Documentation effort of stakeholders as required.

  • Project management and execution - For larger initiatives, assist Project Manager to manage deliverables and meet timelines. Manage/Lead small/mid initiatives where no Project Manager is assigned. Manage and co-ordinate the efforts of internal and external vendors/resources to ensure cohesive implementation. Provide and/or contribute to project oversight, as required, by assembling and consolidating status updates for team and senior management. Respond to requests for information, prioritizing requests, tracking progress, coordinating and communicating status with the requestor. Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities often within tight deadlines. Maintain Product Delivery and administration artifact repository following CIBC guidelines.

  • Helping business define their needs - Assist team in ongoing roadmap planning of product changes. Work with Project delivery and Product Development team to understand unique aspects of each product change to determine what end to end changes are required and which groups, teams, external parties will be involved. Identify and drive improvements in procedural and administrative end to end processes.

Who You Are

  • You’re an experienced Business Consultant. You have working knowledge of program management processes, controls, and methodologies. PMP certification is an asset.

  • You have strong communication skills. You have a clear and concise verbal and written communication relevant to the audience to articulate facts and recommendations when presenting instructions, ideas, recommendations and solutions.

  • You have organizational skills to create and manage schedules for large or small work packages and ability to organize workflow in order to accomplish multiple and changing priorities within specified timeframes.

  • You know that details matter. You notice things that others don't. You keep accurate records, and work under pressure. You can also work independently, take initiative and seek assistance as required.

  • You have strong business acumen. You assess the importance of issues arising and determine the appropriate course of action. You anticipate divisional/departmental needs, recognize potential problems and find creative solutions.

  • You're passionate about people. You have the ability to develop strong working relationships with business partners. You connect with others through respect and authenticity.

  • You can demonstrate experience in working knowledge of mutual fund products and how they operate within the industry. You understand financial services practices and principles. It’s an asset if you have knowledge of Planview.

  • Technical Skills. You have proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of tools including Teams, Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Visio.
