We’re looking for an experienced Associate Director to help us grow the Breakfast Television brand and connect with our Rogers Sports & Media audiences by bringing their skills and experience to assist the Senior Director to execute Canada’s #1 Morning Show from the control room. The successful candidate is ready be a part of a thriving team of broadcast professions during a live daily 5-hour broadcast.

The Associate Director will work closely with the Senior Director and others in the department to produce fast-paced, graphic & video-driven, compelling, and clean broadcasts. The ideal candidate will bring new, forward-thinking production ideas to the table to help us adapt to a constantly changing viewer base.

The successful candidate can operate and troubleshoot control room visuals and help plan lineups as well as populate the daily Inception lineup. The Associate Director will have a keen attention to detail and ensure all visuals on the daily show are vetted for quality control. Ability to be flexible, innovative, and work efficiently under intense pressure and time constraints for breaking news is essential.

What you will do...

  • Working closely with the Senior Director in a small group to ensure all visuals are vetted and pass quality control

  • Working as part of a team, you will liaise with the In Show Producer and Supervising Producer to ensure all visual needs are met

  • Populate the daily Inception lineup

  • Recognize deadlines and prioritize work accordingly.

  • Work with Production Engineering on equipment faults and failures.

  • Feeds coordination and booking, as required.

  • Strong team and organizational skills are a must.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What you will bring…

  • Experience with Ross: Expression as well as hands on experience with Ross Carbonite switcher will be considered an asset

  • Knowledge of Newsroom control systems such as Inception/iNews

  • In-depth knowledge of editing, shooting and technical facilities an asset

  • Must be highly motivated, show initiative and creativity.

  • Self-starter; well organized and detail oriented; Ability to prioritize effectively.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Take direction and handle stressful situations well.

  • Able to meet tight deadlines.

  • Valid Drivers License (non-GDL)

  • Ability to early mornings

  • Self starter

  • Creative vision and keen editorial judgment

  • Understanding of editorial and production needs for morning TV audience
