Analyst, Trade Finance Operations (1 Year Contract)

Purpose:

Contributes to the overall success of the Trade Finance Operations in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

• Process transactions within a wide range of complexity. These may include, but not limited to Commercial Letter of Credit, Documentary Collections, or other Trade Finance Products.

• Ensuring all aspects of the customers’ trade needs are addressed in a manner consistent with Scotia Service Standards and Complaint Resolution Standards and in doing so positively differentiate the level of service/support provided to the customer from that provided by other financial institutions as it related to trade services.

• Verifying that all client documentation is complete, compliant and appropriately authorized.

• Ensuring all Trade Finance Activity Profile of clients, Due Diligence forms are accurately prepared/processed.

• Responding promptly and effectively to request, concerns and complaints from customers, GTB Sales team and other departments in order to propose workable solutions.

• Developing and maintaining an excellent specialist knowledge and strong understanding of GTB Trade Finance products, services and pricing.

• Setting up Customer profiles and maintaining appropriate customer files/documents and customer records.

• Actively identifying and participating with the development of recommendations/ideas for process and systems improvement.

• Operate various platforms and systems needed in order to perform daily functions: GTX, CorrRisk, CGI-T360, LOANIQ, etc.

• Respond promptly and effectively to requests from customers, Trade Finance Sales team and escalate any concerns and complaints to the Manager and Senior Manager in order to propose workable solutions

• Handle all processing, verifying and /or releasing activities related to documentary Letter of Credit and/or documentary collection in the Trade 360 as per authorized limits.

• Provide administrative support as required including but not limited to scanning and indexing documentary import Letter of Credit applications, Documentary Export Letter of Credit, Documentary Import and/or Export Letter of Credit documents, and Documentary Collections documents.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

• Undergraduate degree – Finance/Business

• Knowledge of Trade Finance products and services is an asset

• A passion and interest in Global Wholesale Operations/ financial market space

• Knowledge of the Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits (currently UCP600), the Bills of Exchange Act, URC 522, URR 725, ISBP and SWIFT procedures and any other applicable trade finance rules and regulations.

• Experience in Microsoft Office applications, VBA, Excel, Power BI, Project experience, ADP, 6 Sigma, Broadridge, ION product, Murex, Xceptor, smart stream products – TLM and gloss is considered an asset

• Preference to be a holder of CDCS

Work Arrangement:

This position is currently a Hybrid role. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business
