What You’ll Be Doing

CIBC’s Global Markets business focuses on delivering expert financial and economic analysis and savvy deal-making capabilities to clients in Canada and around the world. The Global Markets team supports fixed income, foreign exchange, commodities, derivatives, equities, and growth markets and is focused on building a strong, innovative relationship-oriented bank.

Within CIBC Global Markets, the Alternate Solutions Group (ASG) was launched in 2013 with a mandate to develop innovative and creative technology-driven capital markets solutions. This group is an unconventional capital markets organization that combines the innovative spirit and agility of a FinTech startup with the financial strength and strong governance protocol of a major financial institution. ASG has been recognized as a global leader in providing disruptive technological capital markets solutions in several product areas including Cross Border Payments, Dynamic Currency Conversion, Multi-currency pre-paid cards, Foreign Cash & Precious Metals Online and white labeling thereof. ASG’s client base stretches from some of the largest banks in the world, to corporates to CIBC’s retail clients.

We are hiring an analyst to support our FX cross-border business, including Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) on ATMs, Point of Sale (POS) and eCommerce. The analyst will work closely with our Latin America (LATAM) desk to strengthen and grow our partnerships in the region.

DCC is a service enabled on ATMs and POS terminals that allows foreign cardholders to pay for their purchases in their home currency. This optional service provides foreign cardholders with the transparency of knowing exactly how much they will be charged. Since its inception, the DCC product team has established partnerships with over 30 financial institutions to enable this white label solution on over 100,000 ATMs worldwide.

How You'll Succeed

We are looking for energetic individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit to help build our cross-border FX business. You will work in a fast-paced environment as part of a dynamic, hard-working, execution-focused product team.

  • Leveraging Analytical Skills - Identify, analyze, and interpret patterns in complex data sets and make recommendations for growth opportunities and business initiatives. Monitor, track and analyze client portfolio performance and economic factors, on an ongoing basis throughout the day, including routine reporting, to be able to respond to client requests and address anomalies. Conduct extensive research to assist in the identification and/or analysis of business trends and opportunities.

  • Supporting our Client Relationships - Work with associates and directors to research, analyze and resolve issues affecting clients. Regularly meet with customers (in English and Spanish) to review product performance, technical projects, and value-added initiatives.

  • Supporting our Sales Pipeline - Work closely with the distribution team to support the sales cycle by providing customer-facing presentations, analysis, and ad hoc product expertise.

  • Enhancing our Product and Processes - Seek concrete and practical ways to improve our product and overall value proposition to our clients. Understand and review our processes, identify areas for improvement, and propose and implement solutions to increase productivity.

Who You Are

  • You have completed an undergraduate university degree in business, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) or related field, MBA is an asset.

  • You can demonstrate 1-3+ years merchant payment acquiring experience or with innovative payment and money movement solutionsin a professional work environment.

  • You are goal oriented . You're motivated by the desire to build a thriving new business, in a fast-paced and competitive environment, with aggressive targets.

  • You are motivated by collective success . You can work autonomously with limited direction while being team player.

  • You have excellent communication and presentation skills. Exceptional communication and persuasion skills in English and Spanish (native proficiency) . You are comfortable presenting analyses and recommendations to senior executives in both languages. Effective at creating client-facing material including RFPs, pitchbooks, presentation decks, etc. Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • You are digitally savvy. You have experience working with complex data sets and performing quantitative analyses on Excel.

  • You act like an owner. Capable of working with limited information, ambiguity and making reasonable assumptions.
