Who Are We?

The Activate New Graduate Development Program is designed to kick-start your career at Scotiabank in your specific stream of Strategic Functions – when you apply, please be sure to apply to the Activate stream in which you want to specialize. Our Strategic Functions groups are the backbone of the Bank, with focus areas including Marketing, Human Resources, Compliance, Global Treasury, Risk Management, Audit, Finance, and our CPA Pre-Approved program. Each rotation in the Activate program will provide you with experiences that build a foundation for you to become a future leader, accelerating your career journey from day one. You’ll also have access to skill-building workshops and challenging work-integrated learning opportunities that will rapidly accelerate your development!

About Compliance/AML:

The Compliance/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Team provides oversight over the banks Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorist Financing, and sanctions compliance program (“AML Program”), including design and effective implementation. The AML program is designed to:

  1. Mitigate the risks of Scotiabank products or services being used for prohibited activities; and

  2. Ensure compliance with the laws and regulations applicable to the bank.

To achieve this, we support the creation and maintenance of effective Know Your Client (“KYC”) processes, a risk-based approach to monitoring client activity to identify and report potentially suspicious and/or unusual activity, specialized training, independent testing, amongst other initiatives and activities. The AML Risk Team includes functions that deal with data, technology, governance, reporting, policies and procedures, investigations, analytics, and so much more. Our team is comprised of both highly technical individuals, with strong data and analytics skills, as well as individuals with a strong foundation and interest in governance and policy development – as an Activate associate, you’ll get to experience both!

Is this program right for you? In this program, you will:

You’ll join our Activate Development program as a full-time permanent employee and will spend 12 months rotating to pre-determined areas that will challenge you and provide you with opportunities to learn and grow into a Strategic Functions professional. Our goal at the end of the program is to land you into a permanent role in your area of focus – after 3 rotations, you’ll be set up to hit the ground running! These rotations are key to your development and aim to ensure you receive a wide breadth of experience in a short period of time. It also provides you with the opportunity to discover your passions and learn more about your areas of interest; you’ll gain a well-rounded view of the entire organization, while gaining practical experience, focused on high-impact projects within your business line.

Each stream of the Activate Program has a dedicated recruiting process; this posting is for AML & Compliance . If you’re interested in one of the other streams of the Activate program, please search for the appropriate posting on our Scotiabank Careers page.
