Specialty Systems, Inc. has immediate openings for a Systems Administrator with the below described skills and experience to join our team of technical professionals supporting our Department of Defense customer at the Joint Base MDL. In this position, you will have a high profile role within the software infrastructure team supporting the development and on-going support and maintenance of unique Department of Defense systems. Ideal candidates will have a broad set of technical skills and must be able to work both individually and within a team environment. As a member of our team you will be able to experience the professional satisfaction of playing a key role in ensuring that our Department of Defense customers’ systems that have a direct impact on our country’s war-fighting and peace-keeping capabilities are performing at optimal levels. This position is located at our customer site location at Joint Base MDL. In this position, you will work our customer’s Compressed Work Schedule which consists of working four 9 hour days (M-Th) and an 8 hour day (F) for the first week of a cycle followed by four 9 hour days (M-Th) and being off on the second Friday for the second week of a cycle. This results in a 3 day weekend every other week!
Job responsibilities will include:
Provide IT system administration support to the developers and users working on a Navy software application.
Ensure that patches and updates are applied to the development and user machines.
Work with users to install, update, patch, and troubleshoot application software on NMCI assets.
Work with the original software appliction vendor's personnel and help desk as the primary point of contact for all outside troubleshooting, support, and licensing matters.
Initiate NMCI support tickets for Java Exceptions List Form for all user machines.
Maintain backups of application software, licenses, and paperwork on external or shared drives.
Use application software system administration tools in support of the developers and users.
Maintain and support the replacement version of the application software after the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version is replaced due to the removal of JRE from NMCI (future).
Maintain the software application's entries in the DON Application and Datbase Management System (DADMS) as version changes and existing DADMS entries expire (future).

Position Qualification Requirements:
Education, Certifications and Years of Experience:
1 to 3 years of experience in a Windows or Linux system administration role is required.
A BS.BA degree in a technical field is preferred. However, candidates with exceptional experience and skills but without the degree may be considered.
CompTIA Security+ CE certification is required.
Preference will be given to those with an active security clearance.
Solid Windows desktop, server and Linux administration skills are required.
A strong IT background is requried.
Experience performing user system administration and IT helpdesk support is required.
Experience applying OS patches and updates is requried.
Solid communication and user interface skills are required.

This position has a salary range of between $60,000 and $80,000, based on the candidate's match to the skill and experience levels required.
