UnitedHealth Group Specialty Benefits Senior Account Executive - North Florida in Tampa, Florida

In this role the, Sr. Account Exec, Specialty Benefits, will work with the broker and health plan sales teams to promote specialty product sales and persistency in the marketplace. The AE will be accountable for delivering the specialty sales goal for the assigned market and will be involved in external marketing and be a subject matter expert to promote specialty employer paid and voluntary products. These positions will be aligned with the market segment, defined as 51 to 3,000 lives and / or 100-3,000 lives.


  • Beingresponsible for full oversight of the specialty sale at the direction ofthe AE / SAE to achieve health plan market sales goals and maintainprofitability

  • Advocate forspecialty voluntary products to support increase in enrollment and size ofsale and negotiate based on broker / customer feedback with underwriting;leveraging rate bank, product discount programs and packaged savings toleverage the best value to the customer

  • Consult withbroker and health plan sales teams on strategy calls related to specialtyproducts and process and develop and / or deliver finalist and largebroker presentations as specialty subject matter expert

  • Conduct in-depthpresentations in market

  • Create and drivestrategies for top specialty producing agencies and Brokers

  • Collaborate withSales Management and / or Health Plan leadership regarding pipeline,persistency, market objectives and develop competitive strategies withspecific Brokers / General Agents

  • Workcollaboratively with AE / RAC / SAE to support sales, product and processeducation, and training on employer paid and voluntary specialty products.This position works collaboratively with Generalist AE on external salescalls representing ancillary product offerings

  • Conduct forcommunication on specialty topics including marketing initiatives that AE /RAC / SAE should be promoting (i.e. product updates, bonus programs, ratecards, drip marketing, etc)

  • Educates salessupport on quoting plan designs & product pre-implementation

  • Develop businessrelationships with AE / RAC / SAE as a subject matter expert and trustedadvisor in order to increase specialty sales

  • Assisting AE / RAC/ SAE in developing sales proposals, including anticipating competingproducts and distinguishing UHC's products from those competing products


  • Bachelor’sdegree

  • Ability tounderstand underwriting, financial and analytical details as necessary

  • Demonstratedsuccess in meeting or exceeding sales goals, particularly with specialtyproducts

  • Very strongorganizational skills are key to balancing multiple priorities, objectivesand customer obligations and time management skills critical to success

  • RelationshipBuilding and Influence

  • Ability tonegotiate and close sales

  • Ability tonavigate UnitedHealthcare internal departments to produce positive serviceresults for clients and the company

  • Ability to build andmaintain strong client and producer relationships; customer focused approach

  • Demonstrated understanding and experience (3-5 years) with ancillarycoverages specifically with Life / Disability products.

  • Working with / managing a territory of brokers in Virginia for sales andor account management duties

  • Strongcommunication skills (written and verbal)

  • Strongpresentation skills

  • Sales insurancelicense(s) must be maintained as required by state law in residential andnon-residential states in your territory
