We are seeking great people for a rewarding opportunity. We have an immediate need for a Disaster Recovery Specialist/Storage Administrator with a proven background in successful DR planning and implementation projects within a large enterprise, infrastructure project environment.

The Disaster Recovery Specialist will assist with the development of Disaster Recovery plans and procedures to ensure response to critical IT functions can be resumed within a defined time frame.

The Disaster Recovery Specialist responsibilities will encompass:

  • Provide technical assistance and leadership for enterprise backup and recovery initiatives.

  • Participate in annual BIA and risk assessment to determine interdependencies needed to define recovery plans.

  • Contribute to content and provide updates to Disaster Recovery plans and documentation.

  • Participate in recovery efforts in the event of an actual disaster- Providing 24x7 on-call support for any emergency that may require activation of all or part of the Disaster Recovery plan.

  • Collaborate with the Network, Database, Disaster Recovery and Security teams to recommend, design and implement Backup Recovery solutions.

  • Validate and test Disaster Recovery environment and installations.

  • Testing, updating, and implementation of the local IT Unit DR Plans. Document the results and recommend/implement program changes.

  • Track and report on issues and metrics related to Disaster Recovery.

  • Facilitate multi-functional operational and technical meetings related to application level plan development and data center disaster recovery.

  • Analyze backup equipment performance, collect information and prepare summary reports as required by management and proactive support of the recovery infrastructure and environment.

  • Help develop and submit audits and compliance reports, related to Disaster Recovery, to management.

  • Participate in supporting any audit requests and findings relating to Backup, Data Retention and Recovery Plans.

  • Participate in vendor DR audits, reviewing disaster recovery plans and compare expected results to the required results (RTOs) of the systems supported.

  • Review technical details of outages to services provided by virtual and storage solutions to establish potential impact and future risk to availability of services and recommend course of action to minimize risk of future service outages.

Knowledge, Skills and Specifications:

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Strong ITIL Service Management knowledge around Service Design, Change Management, Incident Management, and Continuity Management.

  • Proficient using MS Office Suite including MS Visio and MS Project.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Information Security, Computer Science preferred; Military service, or a combination of education and hands-on work experience equivalence considered.

  • ITIL Foundation, DRII or BCI industry certifications preferred.
