We are seeking a highly motivated, intellectually curious Java Developer with significant Spring Boot experience. This individual will play an important role on the Digital Platform Team as we work to provide a consistent and reusable set of APIs for advisor, customer, and contract data. This hire will report to the Director of the Service Enablement Team and play a key role in the success of the team.


Skills required to ensure success include:

Agile Methodologies: Knowledge of concept and principles of agile methodology; ability to apply appropriate agile approaches in the processes of software development and delivery.

Application Design, Architecture: Knowledge of basic activities and deliverables of application design; ability to utilize application design methodologies, tools and techniques to convert business requirements and logical models into a technical application design.

Documentation Architecture and Design: Knowledge of documentation architecture and design; ability to build efficient processes, use appropriate tools and technique , and create complete documentation portfolios for software or technology products.

Software Development: Knowledge of software development tools and activities; ability to produce software products or systems in line with product requirements.

System and Technology Integration: Knowledge of the features and facilities of systems; ability to integrate and communicate among applications, databases and technology platforms.

Technical Writing/Documentation: Knowledge of technical writing; ability to write technical documents such as manuals, reports, guidelines or documents on standards, processes and applications.

  • 3 years of development experience

  • Demonstrable proficiency in development of RESTful APIs using Spring Boot. This includes the ability to develop and consume these APIs.

  • Familiarity with Reactive Spring technologies that include the use of Reactor, WebFlux, Spring Data with R2BC, Reactive Mongo, and Reactive Redis.

  • Familiarity with Git Version Control Systems and best practices for version-controlled software development.

  • Familiarity with cloud-based services. Microsoft Azure is preferred, but we believe AWS knowledge can transfer.

  • Ability to query and modify data in multiple types of datastores including relational databases, NoSQL data stores, and graph databases via both management tools and in code.

  • Self-motivated, hard-working, and dedicated to excellence.

  • Productive without frequent direction but comfortable seeking input when tasks or requirements are unclear.

  • Able to communicate and work efficiently and constructively with team members.

  • Adept at learning new technologies and skills.

Additional Technical Skills Desired:

  • Creating Unit Tests


  • Azure DevOps (repository, pipelines, scrum board)

  • Shell Scripting
