National Grid Senior Specialist, Risk Management in Syracuse, New York

About the role

Under the Director, Cari Schafer, the ERM Senior Specialist supports the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function by providing valuable analysis and insights to drive effective risk management practices. They assist in the development and implementation of risk management strategies and frameworks, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. The ERM Analyst conducts risk assessments, monitors emerging risks, and assists in the preparation of risk reports for key stakeholders. They play a crucial role in promoting a risk-aware culture and supporting the overall success of the ERM program.

What you'll do

• Support in facilitation of effective risk management, controls design, and assurance activities aligned with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and relevant frameworks.

• Understand relevant BU policy documents and how they align to risk and control activities.

• Build and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders and BU leaders.

• Prioritize training and learning on risk management techniques, internal controls design, and GRC Archer.

• Assist ERM Program Lead and other team members in executing ERM strategy.

• Assist ERM Program Lead and other team members in preparing relevant risk reporting materials.

• Complete other assurance or administrative tasks as needed.

• Provide best practice advice to business stakeholders on risk management, risk mitigation, and controls aligned with National Grid's ERM framework.

• Facilitate cross-functional risk assessments to support development of risk registers, risk profile summaries.

• Support the development of risk management training programs for employees.

• Support preparation of comprehensive, well-written, concise, illustrative reports and executive dashboards to capture conclusions and key findings resulting from risk assessments, analyses and recommendations.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in risk management, business, finance, accounting, or a related field.

• 3+ years’ experience in a risk reporting, finance, and/or operations role (risk management, insurance underwriting, gas operations, other finance functions).

• Quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to identify and evaluate potential risks.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

• Knowledge of risk management frameworks and methodologies

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint

It'd be great if you had

• Professional Qualification in risk management, finance or audit from a recognized Institute (e.g., Enterprise Risk Management Certified Professional (ERMCP), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP), Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, ICAS), Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CMIIA or CIA)) or actively working towards qualification (desirable but not required).

Annual Salary

DNY: $105,000-$123,000

UNY: $87,000-$102,000

MA: $98,000-$115,000

Salary commensurate with location and experience.

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
